The NCR’s register of credit bureaus lists Xpert Decision Systems (Pty) Ltd, trading as XDS, as registered bureau NCRCB5 (legal registration number 2002/022938/07), with its credit report website as www.splendi.co.za. XDS describes itself as a South African credit information bureau with subsidiary operations in Ghana, Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
How to get your XDS free credit report
- Go to splendi.co.za or download the Splendi app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Register with your cell phone number, email and ID or passport number; you receive a one-time PIN (OTP) on your phone. Splendi also offers optional Selfie sign-in.
- Log in to see your latest credit report and score. Splendi says it recalculates your score on each login and shows an updated report every time.
If you entered the wrong ID or passport number when signing up, or your email, cell number or ID is already linked to another Splendi account, Splendi asks you to email info@splendi.co.za. Splendi is a product of the Mettus Group and is powered by XDS; it also offers free identity monitoring and protection and a credit health section with steps to improve your score.
Disputing information on your XDS credit report
Splendi’s home page lists “Online Disputes: verify your data and dispute incorrect information easily online” as one of its features, so disputes about XDS data start in your Splendi profile. For anything you cannot resolve online, contact XDS on +27 11 645 9100 or info@xds.co.za. Splendi’s FAQs explain that when you ask for an investigation into disputed account information, the credit bureau updates or investigates it, and information found to be inaccurate, or that can no longer be verified, is deleted. You can also send the bureau proof of changes to your contact details so it can update them. Splendi’s FAQs add that each person has their own credit report, even when married in community of property, and that if your report shows accounts you did not open, you should contact the companies that enquired on you and ask for the application you allegedly signed.
What is on your credit report
Splendi’s FAQs describe XDS as one of South Africa’s four credit bureaus, registered with the National Credit Regulator under the National Credit Act. Your report includes your personal details, potential fraud indicators (checked against fraud databases, shown as “listed” if your details appear) and your Presage credit score, which reflects how diligently you pay your accounts. Splendi says the score is only one part of a credit provider’s assessment, and lists what affects it: payment history (pay instalments on time and reduce any arrears), utilisation of revolving credit such as credit and store cards, the length of your credit history, the types of credit you manage, and adverse records such as judgments and defaults, which it recommends paying off and having marked as paid up.
