Two situations that come up constantly with share registries are worth preparing for:

• Unclaimed dividends. The commonest cause is simply out-of-date contact or banking details on the register. Keeping those current with the registry prevents it. Tracing an unclaimed dividend or shareholding is free to the beneficiary – registries and companies run tracing at no cost.
