What centre management can and cannot do

Centre management runs the building: parking, security, lost property, the mall map, trading hours, concierge and personal shopping, cleaning, and anything that happens in the common areas. It does not run the shops. A complaint about a purchase, a refund, a repair or a staff member belongs to that retailer’s own customer service, and centre management will refer it back.

• Leasing, a kiosk, or an event space: the leasing team, reached through centre management.

The reporting line is not a complaints line

The 0800 333 619 number and the SMS route are a whistleblowing channel for unethical behaviour — fraud, bribery, theft, an employee soliciting a payment. They are run independently so a report can be made anonymously. Using them for an ordinary shopping complaint slows both queues down; use centre management for that.

The centre publishes its trading hours, a store directory and an interactive mall map on menlynpark.co.za, and hours shift on public holidays. Menlyn Park is one of the largest centres in the country and parking is split across several levels with separate entrances off Atterbury and Lois, so checking the mall map for the shop you want before arriving saves a long walk. The centre also lists movies, concierge services and personal shopping as bookable services.
