How to send a PAXI parcel

  1. Buy a PAXI bag in store or online.
  2. Bring your ID, passport or driver’s licence, your cellphone number, the receiver’s cellphone number, and the code, name or suburb of the destination PAXI Point.
  3. Drop the parcel off. You and the receiver both get SMS updates.

For store-to-home delivery, register the parcel first on portal.paxi.co.za with the receiver’s name, mobile number and home address. The receiver shows the PIN they receive on WhatsApp. For store collections, the receiver brings their ID and the collection PIN sent by SMS when the parcel arrives. If the parcel is not collected in time, the sender gets reminders.

Tracking and SMS updates

You can track a parcel on the PAXI website, through SMS updates, on WhatsApp at +27 21 010 1574, or by calling 086 000 7294. PAXI sends both sender and receiver three key SMSes:

  • A drop-off confirmation with a summary of what was captured.
  • An arrival SMS with the collection OTP when the parcel reaches the destination PAXI Point.
  • A collection confirmation once the receiver has picked up the parcel.

PAXI says each parcel is scanned in and out of every location and kept in dedicated secure storage. You don’t have to send from PEP to PEP: a parcel can go from any PAXI Point to any other, including Shoe City and Tekkie Town stores. If you don’t know the destination PAXI Point code, store staff can look it up in the PAXI app from an address.

PAXI for business

Businesses can send parcels to PAXI Points and let customers return items through PAXI Points. If you send many parcels at a time, use the PAXI Portal at portal.paxi.co.za. PAXI also runs a last-mile delivery service. For business enquiries, call 086 000 7294 or use the contact form.

Lost parcels and insurance

Every PAXI parcel is covered for loss up to R500. If a parcel is lost through hijacking, theft, a vehicle accident or a robbery at a PAXI Point, PAXI pays the value of the parcel or R500, whichever is less, unless you bought extra insurance. For more valuable items you can buy an additional loss insurance voucher. PAXI does not cover damage, because packaging is the sender’s responsibility, and it discourages sending fragile items. For a lost parcel, call 086 000 7294 or WhatsApp +27 21 010 1574. The claims process is in PAXI’s Terms and Conditions.

Items you cannot send

PAXI’s prohibited list includes fragile items, liquids, drugs and prescription medication, cash, traveller’s cheques, bullion and diamonds, dangerous and flammable goods, gas and paraffin, firearms and explosives, live animals, human remains or ashes, perishables, tobacco, dry ice, furs and ivory, clinical samples, and cellphones, tablets and laptops.
