Pearson South Africa publishes no switchboard, no postal address and no departmental mailbox. Its country page lists three named staff members and their individual work addresses, and nothing else — and the schools business most people are looking for is no longer Pearson at all.
The schools business is now Maskew Miller Learning
Pearson’s South African schools publishing was divested. The old contact page at za.pearson.com now redirects to mml.co.za, the site of Maskew Miller Learning. If your query is about a South African school textbook, a CAPS title or a schools order, that is the company to approach, not Pearson.
What Pearson still does here, and which channel handles it
- UK schools courseware and Edexcel qualifications: handled by a regional development manager for Southern Africa.
- Higher education titles, Revel, MyLab and Mastering, and Pearson eTextbooks: handled by a head of sales for sub-Saharan Africa, with a full catalogue and an eCommerce site on za.pearson.com.
- Language learning and assessment: Pearson Test of English, and Pearson VUE for certification and licensure, each with its own booking and support channel.
- Rights and permissions: handled by a director of IP rights administration.
Each of those four is published as a named person with a personal work mailbox. Those are individual staff addresses rather than departments, so they are not repeated here — they change when staff move, and a query sent to a person who has left goes nowhere. Open za.pearson.com and take the current name from the page itself.
Where to go instead
- A test booking, a reschedule or a results query: Pearson VUE or Pearson Test of English directly, through their own sites, which run their own support.
- A digital access code that will not activate: the eCommerce or product support route for that product, not the country page.
- Anything corporate, including investor and media queries: Pearson UK, which za.pearson.com links to as its parent.
A note on the two companies
Pearson describes itself as the world’s learning company, with customers in nearly 200 countries, providing digital content, assessments, qualifications and data. Maskew Miller Learning is a separate South African business now. Correspondence, invoices and legal notices about a South African schools title will carry the Maskew Miller name, and quoting Pearson on them will slow the matter down.
