Bloemfontein has no postal address of its own

PSiRA lists a private bag or post box for every one of its other offices. Centurion, Johannesburg and Pretoria all use Private Bag X817, Pretoria, 0001. Polokwane, Nelspruit, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Mthatha and Bellville each have their own box number.
Bloemfontein is the single entry with the postal field left out. There is a street address and a telephone number and nothing else.
Phone 051 000 0026 first and ask where to send anything you cannot hand in at the counter. Do not assume the street address doubles as a postal address.

The switchboard number is a word puzzle. PSiRA writes it as 086 10 PSiRA, and PSIRA spells out to 77472 on a telephone keypad, giving 0861 077 472.
Use 051 000 0026 for anything specific to the Bloemfontein office, such as whether a counter is open or what to bring. Use the helpdesk for registration and certificate queries that any office could answer.
Reporting fraud or misconduct
PSiRA runs a separate Fraud and Ethics Hotline on 0860 333 036, with an email address at psira@thehotline.co.za and an SMS line on 30916.
The hotline address is on an outside domain, thehotline.co.za, rather than on psira.co.za. That is normal for an independently run ethics line, and PSiRA publishes it itself, so the odd-looking address is not a sign of anything wrong.

Three provinces have no PSiRA office at all: North West, the Northern Cape and, apart from Bloemfontein, the rest of the Free State. Bloemfontein carries the whole province.
What PSiRA does
PSiRA’s mandate comes from the Private Security Industry Regulation Act 56 of 2001, and its stated objective is to regulate the private security industry and exercise control over the practice of security service providers.
The authority is organised into three divisions that a counter visit will touch: Registration, Training and Law Enforcement. Knowing which of the three your matter falls under shortens the call.
PSiRA also runs an online system, E-PSiRA, and publishes a list of withdrawn companies alongside consumer awareness material. Check the withdrawn list before engaging a security company, because a business can be deregistered while its signage and marketing stay in place.

Call ahead on 051 000 0026. A regional office may not perform every function the head office does, and it is a wasted trip into Bloemfontein Central to find out at the counter.
