Its published contact routes are 0861 666 333, info@emeraldlife.co.za, the branch phone numbers above and its Facebook page. Be careful of “Emerald Life WhatsApp numbers” shared online that ask for premiums, banking details or copies of ID documents; call a branch or head office on a number from the official website instead.
Services offered by Emerald Life
Emerald Life (Pty) Ltd describes itself as a licensed life microinsurer, the first licensed in South Africa, selling affordable funeral insurance through a national tied-advisor network. Its plans are the Care Family Funeral Plan, the Advanced Funeral Plan, the Family Advanced Funeral Plan and the Pensioner and Family plan, with benefits that include funeral cover, double accidental death cover, and related services and repatriation, depending on the plan. Emerald Life says premiums start from R65 a month, depending on risk profile and product, and up to 18 family members can be covered on one plan. Its FAQs say the lives assured and beneficiaries must be South African citizens, and policies have no cash value. Emerald Life is also taking over funeral policies from Lion Life under a section 50 transfer, and says affected policyholders’ benefits remain unchanged.
Emerald Life complaints
Emerald Life’s complaints page says a complaint must be written and signed by the complainant, with a copy of their ID and proof of banking details. Submit it to complaints@emeraldlife.co.za, call 0861 666 333, or visit any branch for help. Emerald Life aims to resolve complaints within 15 working days of submission, and its website also lists ombud contact details if you are not satisfied.
