Fedhealth medical aid contact number and email
For general member queries, call the Fedhealth member contact centre on 0860 002 153 or email member@fedhealth.co.za. Fedhealth’s WhatsApp service is 060 070 2479: add the number to your contacts and type “hello” to start, then authenticate with a unique OTP. For complicated queries, Fedhealth offers a virtual walk-in centre where you book a session with a dedicated agent. The same line serves all plans, including flexiFED.
Authorisation numbers and PMB queries
Fedhealth publishes no separate PMB email address. Authorisation and PMB queries go to the Hospital Authorisation Centre on 0860 002 153 or authorisations@fedhealth.co.za, or to the member line.
There is no separate pre-authorisation number
Fedhealth publishes 0860 002 153 for the Hospital Authorisation Centre, for general member contact, and for Chronic Medicine Management. It is one number into the scheme, and the menu or the consultant routes you from there.
What genuinely separates pre-authorisation from everything else is the email address. authorisations@fedhealth.co.za goes to the authorisation team directly, while general queries go to the member mailbox. If your authorisation is not urgent, email is the more reliable route to the right desk.
Have your membership number, the hospital, the treating doctor’s practice number and the planned procedure and date ready before you call.
The Friday opening time is different
The Hospital Authorisation Centre opens at 08:30 from Monday to Thursday, but only at 09:00 on Friday. Chronic Medicine Management does the same. Both still close at 17:00.
A Friday-morning call at 08:40 for an authorisation will not be answered. If you have a Monday procedure and need it authorised before the weekend, that half hour matters.
Type the member email, do not click it
The general member address is displayed correctly as member@fedhealth.co.za. The link behind it, however, points at member@flexhealth.co.za, on a different domain. flexhealth.co.za has no DNS records at all, no mail servers included, so it cannot receive mail.
Anyone who clicks that link rather than typing the address will have their message bounce, or worse, sit unanswered. Type member@fedhealth.co.za by hand.
The authorisations@fedhealth.co.za link is correct and does not have this problem.
One number covers three emergency services
Fedhealth lists its Emergency Number, MediTaxi and Azoza Travel Assist separately, but all three are 0860 333 432. You do not need to keep three numbers.
Emergency admissions are the one case where pre-authorisation cannot come first. Get the member to care, then contact the Authorisation Centre as soon as possible afterwards.
There is also a Fraud Hotline on 0800 112 811.

Tax certificates are password-protected with the member’s ID number. Fedhealth publishes no separate tax-certificate or accounts email address; for statement queries call 0860 002 153 or email member@fedhealth.co.za.
