Medshield contact centre hours
Medshield publishes two different sets of hours. Its home page and Contact Us page say Medshield consultants are available from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturday, with self-service and 24-hour bot support on WhatsApp all year. Its Directory of Medshield Partners page lists the contact centre’s operating hours as Monday to Thursday 8:15 to 16:30 and Friday 8:30 to 16:30. For a query that needs a consultant, calling within the shorter hours is the safer choice; WhatsApp self-service answers at any time.

How to lodge a Medshield complaint
Medshield’s Complaints Escalation Process page asks you to email complaints@medshield.co.za, and says the complaint will be managed in line with its complaints escalation procedure. If you want to escalate an appeal or dispute further, email POqueries@medshield.co.za, which Medshield handles under its PO complaints escalation procedure. Keep your membership number and the reference from your first contact when you escalate.
Medshield self-service, brokers and providers
- Medshield App and member login: Medshield describes its app as a tool for members to manage their healthcare 24/7, alongside the member login and scheme forms on medshield.co.za.
- Quotes and new members: the “Get a Quote” and “Speak to a Broker” forms ask for your name, age, phone number, email and region, and a broker or Medshield contacts you with benefit information.
- Brokers and providers: separate broker login, broker documents, provider login and “Become a Medshield Provider” pages sit on the same site.
- Gap cover: Medshield says it has partnered with Sanlam to offer gap cover at preferential rates, exclusively to Medshield members.
Medshield Medical Scheme states on its website that it is an authorised financial services provider, FSP No 51381.
Medshield 2026 benefit options
- PremiumPlus: unlimited hospital cover in a hospital of your choice, a comprehensive Personal Savings Account and extended Above Threshold Cover.
- MediBonus: unlimited hospital cover in a hospital of your choice, with a substantial Day-to-Day Limit.
- MediSaver: unlimited hospital cover in the Compact Hospital Network, with a Personal Savings Account.
- MediPlus: unlimited hospital cover through the Prime or Compact Hospital Network, with a Day-to-Day Limit.
- MediCore: unlimited hospital cover in the Compact Hospital Network, with day-to-day expenses self-funded.
- MediValue: cover for major medical and daily healthcare needs through the Prime or Compact Hospital Network, with a Day-to-Day Limit.
