Momentum Medical Aid Contact Details

Verified 16 September 2026Official source onlyIndependent directoryReport a wrong number

Momentum Medical Scheme’s member call centre is 0860 117 859, and the same number takes WhatsApp messages. It covers client service, claims and authorisations, so it is also the number to call for pre-authorisation. By email, send queries and authorisation requests to member@momentumhealth.co.za and claims to claims@momentumhealth.co.za. We read momentummedicalscheme.co.za and the medical aid pages of momentum.co.za on 16 September 2026.

ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory, not the scheme or its administrator. We cannot see your membership, authorise a procedure or pay a claim.

The scheme’s own pages disagree on hours. Calls are listed as Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:00 and Saturday 08:00 to 12:00, the email team from 07:30 on weekdays, one contact panel says Saturdays until 16:00, and the complaints summary gives the contact centre as 08:00 to 16:30 on weekdays. All agree it is closed on Sundays and public holidays, so a weekday or Saturday morning is safest. The old momentumhealth.co.za website now redirects to momentummedicalscheme.co.za, but the published mailboxes still end in momentumhealth.co.za.

Product or service support

Momentum Medical Scheme (registration number 1167) is a not-for-profit open medical scheme. Its administrator and managed care provider is Momentum Health, a subsidiary of Momentum Metropolitan Life, at 201 uMhlanga Ridge Boulevard, Cornubia. The options are Evolve, Custom, Incentive, Extender, Summit and Ingwe.

Pre-authorisation is needed for in-hospital benefits such as hospital admissions, specialised radiology and procedures in a doctor’s rooms, and Health Platform Benefits need pre-notification. You can request it in the Momentum App, through your digital profile or web chat, on WhatsApp, by phone or at member@momentumhealth.co.za. Once you have the authorisation number, give it to your provider. Claims can be sent through the same app, web chat and WhatsApp channels, by phone, by email or by post.

The Momentum App also shows your digital membership card, benefits and claims history, and lets you register on the maternity programme and request travel certificates. HealthSaver, GapCover and Multiply are Momentum products rather than scheme benefits, so Multiply queries go to 0861 886 600 or multiply@momentum.co.za, not the scheme line.

Eligibility, account or policy requirements

  • For pre-authorisation: your membership number, the patient’s details, the reason for the admission, procedure or scan, the procedure (CPT), ICD-10 and tariff codes, the admission date, the contact details and practice numbers of the referring GP and the specialist, and the hospital or day clinic’s name and practice number.
  • For a claim: your membership number, the principal member’s and patient’s surnames, initials and first names, the treatment date, the amount charged, ICD-10, tariff and NAPPI codes, the provider’s name and practice number, and proof of payment if you paid.
  • New members: the scheme may apply a 3-month general waiting period and a 12-month waiting period for specific conditions.
  • Leaving: you can claim for treatment up to the day your membership ends. The scheme terminates membership for unpaid contributions or confirmed fraud, and you may not belong to two schemes at once.
  • Scheme rules: members request them by logging in to their profile.

Escalation route

  1. Contact the call centre or member@momentumhealth.co.za first, and if the answer does not resolve it, ask for the query to go to the responsible manager.
  2. Write to the Principal Officer with the details, or ask the administrator to pass your complaint to the Principal Officer.
  3. If you disagree with the Principal Officer’s decision, ask for the appropriate Committee of the Board to review it.
  4. After that, ask the Principal Officer, in writing or on 0800 20 40 70, to convene the scheme’s Disputes Committee.

You may instead complain to the Council for Medical Schemes at any stage before you ask for the Disputes Committee: 0861 123 267 or complaints@medicalschemes.co.za. Momentum’s group complaints page prints the Council’s address as complaints@medicalschemes.com; the Council’s own site and the scheme’s membership page use the .co.za address.
