AngloGold Ashanti is no longer a South African company in the legal sense. It states on its own site that AngloGold Ashanti plc is incorporated in England and Wales under registered number 14654651, with its principal executive and registered office in London and its group global headquarters in Colorado. The Johannesburg office is still there and still answers, but it is now one office among several rather than the head office.

The South African office

Departmental mailboxes

Note the two domains. Investor relations sits on aga.gold while media and company secretarial sit on anglogoldashanti.com, and copying the wrong one is an easy mistake. The contacts page also names two individual officers with direct lines and personal mobile numbers; those are not reproduced here, because the role mailboxes above outlast the people behind them.

If you are a shareholder

Share queries do not go to the company at all. They go to the registrar, and which registrar depends on where you hold the shares.

Dividends, lost certificates, address changes and transfers are all registrar matters. The Johannesburg switchboard will refer you there anyway.

The other offices

Suppliers and job seekers

The company publishes a Suppliers section and a Careers section with job search, graduate and student routes on its own site. Use those. Mining recruitment fraud is widespread and the rule is absolute: no legitimate mining employer charges you for an application, a medical, an induction or transport to site, and no genuine offer arrives from a free webmail address.

Community and environmental concerns

AngloGold Ashanti publishes a sustainability section covering tailings management, water stewardship, rehabilitation and mine closure planning, and a page on its South African legacy projects, which is where historical liabilities from closed operations sit. If your concern relates to a former operation rather than a current one, that legacy material is the right starting point, and the Johannesburg office is the right number.
