About the mine
- Location: about 90 km west of Johannesburg, near the Gauteng and North West provincial border
- Mining depth: 3,388 m below surface, which makes it one of the deeper operations in the country
- Infrastructure: twin vertical and twin sub-vertical shaft systems
- Orebody: the Ventersdorp Contact Reef, mined by underground conventional methods in a sequential grid layout
- Ore is treated at the Mponeng gold plant rather than on site
- Harmony gives the remaining life-of-mine as 3 years, with current focus on exploration and development to identify expansion opportunities
Workforce and performance
- Workforce: 3,972 people, made up of 3,499 permanent employees and 473 contractors
- Production for the 2025 financial year: 116,675 ounces, at a grade of 6.67 grams per tonne
