Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited publishes a dedicated recruitment route, separate from its head office switchboard. The details below were read from harmony.co.za on 2 September 2026.

Task scope

Harmony HR handles recruitment for its South African operations, its bursary scheme, and student opportunities. Vacancies are advertised through the careers portal on its own website.

Note that Harmony runs operations in South Africa, Papua New Guinea and Australia, and recruitment is handled regionally – the South African route below will not deal with an overseas application.

Route

The recruitment and bursary numbers are on the 018 700 exchange, at the operations, not on the 011 head office line in Randfontein. Harmony also lists named managers with individual work addresses for corporate affairs, CSI and new business; those are on its own contacts page, and we list role mailboxes here rather than reproduce individuals’ addresses.

Requirements

A genuine Harmony job never requires a payment. Not for an application, a medical, an induction, a uniform, transport, or a “placement fee”. Mining recruitment is among the most heavily impersonated in South Africa, and anyone asking for money or airtime in exchange for a position is running a scam – report them on the Honesty Hotline above.

Harmony advertises vacancies only through the careers portal on harmony.co.za. A listing circulating on WhatsApp, Facebook or a jobs blog that does not appear there has not been verified, whoever forwarded it.

Bursary applications open in September and October each year, so the window is now – check the careers section for the current cycle rather than emailing out of season.

Steps

Escalation

Written correspondence goes to Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited, registration number 1950/038232/06, Randfontein Office Park, corner Main Reef Road and Ward Avenue, Randfontein 1759, or PO Box 2, Randfontein 1760.

Report recruitment corruption – anyone selling jobs, or an official demanding a payment or favour – anonymously on the Honesty Hotline, 0800 204 256. It exists precisely so this does not have to go through the people involved.

Beyond the company, an unfair dismissal or unfair labour practice goes to the CCMA or the relevant bargaining council free of charge, with short deadlines – 30 days from a dismissal, 90 days for an unfair labour practice. Mine health and safety falls under the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources; a workplace injury or occupational disease claim runs through the Compensation Commissioner, and for mining lung disease through the Medical Bureau for Occupational Diseases. Discrimination in recruitment can go to the Department of Employment and Labour or the South African Human Rights Commission.
