Legal Aid South Africa has three separate offices in and around Polokwane, and they do different jobs. The local office takes clients; the provincial office runs the region and will not open a file for you; the satellites are branches of the local office and share its postal address. Legal Aid SA Polokwane Local Office

The office is inside the High Court building, which matters on arrival – you go through court security to reach it, so allow time and bring identification.

The provincial office is also in Polokwane

One provincial office covers both Limpopo and Mpumalanga from Polokwane. It is the escalation point when a local office has not responded, not the place to apply for help. Phoning it first only adds a step.

The satellite offices that report to Polokwane

All three post to PO Box 1314, Polokwane, the same box as the local office. Note that Mokopane publishes the national number rather than a landline of its own, and Lebowakgomo publishes a cellphone as its office line – that is what Legal Aid SA itself lists, not a mobile borrowed from a staff member.

The national routes

Legal Aid SA is means-tested. It represents people who cannot afford a lawyer, with priority for criminal matters and for vulnerable groups, and it will ask about your income before it takes the matter. Bring proof of income, your identity document and any court papers to the first appointment – without them the office cannot assess the application and you will be sent home to fetch them.
