Vodacom handles account and billing queries on its customer care line, but once an account falls into arrears it moves to a different desk with its own number.

Requirements

Vodacom groups its account help into four areas: billing and statements; payments and payment arrangements; suspensions, collections and reconnection; and account services, add-ons and support. Which desk you need follows from the state of the account rather than from the question, so establish whether the account is in arrears before calling.

Steps

Routine account work is designed for self-service through the Vodacom app or the website, including viewing past usage and spend over the previous six months, which is the fastest way to check a disputed bill before raising it. If a payment arrangement is needed, that sits under the payments and arrangements area rather than with general customer care.

Escalation

A suspended line is reconnected through the collections side once the arrears are settled, not through customer care, which is why the 082 1946 number matters. If Vodacom does not resolve a billing dispute, a complaint about a mobile service in South Africa goes to the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa, and consumer complaints may also go to the National Consumer Commission. Note that a deceased account is a separate process again, handled by Vodacom Deceased Account Management rather than by the accounts desk.
