Vodacom publishes a dedicated fibre number, separate from its mobile customer care line. Fibre is a fixed-line home internet service rather than a mobile product, and the teams are not interchangeable.

Official provider route

Vodacom lists fibre under its home internet range on its own site, separate from mobile, and the number reflects that separation.

Use the fibre number for installation, faults and account questions on a home fibre line. The mobile customer care line cannot see a fibre account, so starting there adds a transfer.

Product or service support

Vodacom sells fibre as part of its home internet range alongside 5G. As with all South African fibre, there are two parties involved: the network operator that owns the line into the property, and Vodacom as the service provider you pay. Vodacom handles the account, the package and the router; a physical problem with the line itself may have to be escalated by Vodacom to the network operator.

That division explains why a fault can take longer than expected. Vodacom logs it, but the repair may depend on a third party attending the property or the street-level infrastructure.

Eligibility, account or policy requirements

Have the account number, the service address and the details of the line ready. For an installation query, coverage is determined by the physical address, so an exact address matters more than a suburb name.

Before reporting a fault, check whether the router has power and what its indicator lights show, and whether the problem affects other devices in the house or only one. Vodacom will ask, and the answers determine whether this is diagnosed as a line fault or a device problem.

Escalation route

Fibre installation runs in stages β€” a feasibility check on the address, then the physical installation, then activation β€” and each can be handled by a different party. Ask which stage yours is at rather than asking simply when it will be done; the answer is more useful and more likely to be accurate.

If you are moving home, treat it as a new installation at the new address rather than assuming the service moves with you. Coverage is address-specific and the new address may be served by a different network operator, or none.

Log the fault and get a reference number rather than calling repeatedly, since each new call without a reference may open a new ticket rather than progressing the existing one. If a fault stays unresolved, ask specifically whether it has been escalated to the network operator and for that reference too.

Complaints Vodacom does not resolve internally can be taken to the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa, which regulates licensees in the sector.

One navigation note. Vodacom’s address at vodacom.co.za/vodacom/contact-us returned a server error when this page was checked; the working contact page is vodacom.co.za/vodacom/help/contact-us. If a link to Vodacom’s contact details fails, that is why, and it is not a sign that the numbers have changed.
