The Gautrain number is 0800 4288 7246, which spells 0800 GAUTRAIN. Commuter queries go to customercare@gautrain.co.za, staffed every day from 05:30 to 20:00. The Gautrain Management Agency is on 011 086 3500. We read this on gautrain.co.za and gma.gautrain.co.za on 24 September 2026.

The number spells the name

0800 4288 7246 is 0800 GAUTRAIN. GAUTRAIN is eight letters, which is why the number has eight digits after the 0800 rather than the usual six.

It is also in an odd place. The number appears in the footer of the Gautrain Management Agency’s site, gma.gautrain.co.za, and not on the commuter site most passengers use.

The commuter contact page publishes no telephone number at all, only an email address and a postal address. So if you have searched gautrain.co.za for a number and found nothing, that is why.

Customer care runs seven days, lost property does not

This catches people out because the same email address is used for both, with different hours behind it.

Customer care is available Monday to Sunday, 05:30 to 20:00. That is unusually generous, and it tracks the train service rather than office hours, so there is someone there before the first morning trains.

Lost and Found uses the same customercare@gautrain.co.za address but is staffed only Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 16:00.

So an item left on a Saturday train will not be dealt with until Monday, even though customer care itself is answering. There is also a lost and found form on the Gautrain contact page, which is worth completing rather than only emailing, because it captures the details the team needs.

Two PO boxes, both in Kelvin

Take care with the postal addresses, because they are nearly identical and go to different places.

Commuter and customer carePO Box 1115, Kelvin, 2054
Gautrain Management AgencyPO Box 1266, Kelvin, 2054

Same suburb, same postal code, different box numbers. A commuter complaint goes to 1115; correspondence for the agency goes to 1266.

The contact page is on a different website

One more reason Gautrain’s details are hard to pin down.

The Contact Us links on gautrain.co.za point to a separate domain, gautrainalerts.co.za, which is where the customer care details actually live. Meanwhile gautrain.co.za/contact-us redirects to a login page.

All three domains are genuinely Gautrain’s, so the jump between them is not a warning sign. But it does mean a bookmark can easily land you somewhere without contact details on it.

Before you email

Because there is no front-line telephone queue for commuter matters, the quality of your email decides how fast it is resolved.

Give the date and time of travel, the stations or bus route involved, and your Gautrain card number if the query touches your card or a fare. For a lost item, describe it precisely and say which train or bus and which carriage if you can.

Gautrain also runs self-service for much of this: trip planning, schedules, fares, card reloading, station and bus finders, and a contactless bank card option that removes the need for a Gautrain card at all.

Gautrain or the Management Agency

Deciding which to contact will save you a redirect.

For anything about travelling , a card, a fare, a delay, a bus, lost property, a complaint about a journey , use customer care on customercare@gautrain.co.za or 0800 4288 7246.

The Gautrain Management Agency is the public entity that oversees the system, established in 2006 under the GMA Act. Contact it on 011 086 3500 or info@gautrain.co.za for supply chain and tender matters, careers, projects including the network extensions, and agency-level correspondence.

Formal requests for records under the Promotion of Access to Information Act have their own address, paia@gautrain.co.za.

The agency’s offices are at 44 Grand Central Boulevard in Midrand, which it notes is walkable from Midrand Station.
