The name most listings still get wrong

If you are looking for this page because you saw a name somewhere and wanted to check it, the name has changed twice in recent years and a lot of directory listings have not kept up.

Qatar Airways Group announced on 7 December 2025 that Hamad Ali Al-Khater had been appointed Group Chief Executive Officer with effect from that day, succeeding Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer. The announcement says Mr Al-Khater joined from Hamad International Airport, where he was Chief Operating Officer, and that he had previously held senior roles at QatarEnergy. The group’s board is chaired by His Excellency Mr Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi.

Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer held the post before him, from late 2023. Anything naming an earlier chief executive is out of date by two changes.

There is no chief executive mailbox

Qatar Airways does not publish an address for the group chief executive, and this page does not invent one. The closest published routes are the feedback form and the media mailbox, and they go to different teams.

Addresses in the pattern of a first name, a full stop and a surname at an airline domain are a standard guess rather than a published fact. They are generated by contact scraping services, they frequently bounce, and where they do not bounce they land in a filter. We do not list the personal contact details of named individuals here, whoever they work for, and a request to add them is declined in the same terms.

What to use instead for a complaint

The airline’s help page carries a form headed for compliments, concerns and feedback about the website or app. Choosing Concerns is the route for a complaint. The form asks for the booking reference and the surname first, and it will still take a submission without them, but supplying them attaches your complaint to the actual journey rather than to a name.

  • Booking reference and the surname on the ticket.
  • Flight number and date, and the airport where things went wrong.
  • The baggage file reference, where a bag is involved.
  • Receipts for anything you are asking to be reimbursed.

Separate self service routes sit on the same page for a name correction, a refund or voucher, tracking a refund already lodged, travelling with a pet, an unaccompanied child, medical assistance and carriage of firearms. Each of them asks for a booking reference and surname, and each is faster than a phone call because the request arrives already attached to the booking.

Tickets bought through a travel agent are a real exception. Qatar Airways says on that page that name corrections, refunds and vouchers for agency bookings must go back through the agent. Calling the airline about one of those will send you back to the agent anyway.

One number for South Africa, not one per city

Qatar Airways flies to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, and searches for a Johannesburg office number or a Cape Town office number are common. The airline lists a single South African number, +27 21 831 1039, rather than a number per city. A number presented to you as a local branch line is worth checking against that.

The 24 hour line the airline publishes for hard of hearing passengers, +1 833 607 2675, is a United States number. Dialling it from South Africa is an international call charged at your operator’s rate.

Impersonation to expect

  • Open qatarairways.com and take the number from the help page yourself. Numbers in sponsored search results and in replies under an airline’s social media posts are the usual delivery method for a fake call centre.
  • A refund is paid back to the method you paid with. Anyone asking for a bank account to pay a refund into, or for a fee to release one, is running a fraud.
  • No airline agent needs your card PIN, your banking password or a one time PIN sent by your bank.
  • Hang up on urgency. An agent who says the seat will be released in five minutes unless you pay now is working from a script.
