Translux Contact Details
The Translux contact number is PRASA’s head office line, 011 013 6700, with email to info@prasa.com, because Translux is now run by PRASA and publishes no number of its own. Translux does not publish a WhatsApp number either. Bookings are made online at res.prasa.com/translux/Booking. We last checked this on 26 September 2026.
Be careful with any Translux WhatsApp number you are given
This matters more than usual here, so we are putting it first.
Because Translux publishes no contact number of its own at all, there is nothing official to check a WhatsApp number against. Anyone can circulate one and it cannot be disproved by looking at the operator’s own pages.
That is exactly the gap ticket scams work in. Do not pay for a bus ticket over WhatsApp, and never pay into a personal bank account. Book on the official booking site or at a depot counter.
If someone insists they are Translux, ask them to confirm it through PRASA on the numbers above before any money moves.
Who actually runs Translux now
The ownership change is why the old contact details no longer work.
Translux is a trading name of Autopax Passenger Services, registration number 1995/000861/30. Autopax now sits under the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa, alongside City-to-City, as PRASA’s long-distance road passenger division.
So a Translux query is now a PRASA query. PRASA’s own contact form carries a division selector that includes “City-to-City / Translux”, and that is the official route for a complaint or a service question.

Note that PRASA has published two numbers with two different area codes. The 011 number appears in the site header and footer and matches the Johannesburg address, and we re-confirmed it on 26 September 2026. The 012 number was given on the contact page as the reception line when we read it on 24 September 2026, but we could not re-confirm it on 26 September 2026, so try 011 013 6700 first.

We could not re-confirm the hotline details on 26 September 2026, because PRASA’s site now loads its contact page as an app. The hotline is run by an outside service, which is why that email address is not on the PRASA domain. It is for reporting misconduct, not for a late bus.
Why you cannot find a Translux number
You are not missing something. Three separate things are broken at once.
First, translux.co.za no longer serves a website. The domain still exists and still routes email, but a secure connection is refused outright and an insecure one returns a server error.
Second, autopax.co.za serves a blank default page left over from its web hosting software, in German, telling the site owner they can replace it. Nobody ever did.
Third, and most usefully: the official Translux contact page on PRASA’s booking site publishes an empty table. It offers a province picker with all nine provinces and column headings for outlet, contact number and address, and there is not a single row behind it for any province. We confirmed that in a browser, not just in the page source.
So the depot numbers that page is meant to list simply are not being published.
Translux contact details for Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein and Polokwane
Translux does not publish office or terminal numbers for Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein, Polokwane or any other town: its official contact page lists no outlets for any province. Its route list does name stops at Port Elizabeth, Port Elizabeth Station, Bloemfontein and Polokwane Station. For a question about a terminal, use PRASA on 011 013 6700, info@prasa.com, or the PRASA contact form at prasa.com/contact-us with the division set to “City-to-City / Translux”.
An old Translux call centre number still appears in a 2018 promotional PDF on the booking site, but it is not on any current page and we could not confirm it works, so we do not list it.
What still works
Booking does. The Translux booking and information site runs on PRASA’s own reservations domain, and it carries routes and timetables, the conditions of carriage and a working booking form.
That site is reached through PRASA’s reservations address rather than through translux.co.za, which is why a search result pointing at the old domain fails.
One sign of how long it has been neglected: the booking site’s footer still reads “2017, Autopax Passenger Services”, and the conditions of carriage describe the company as an SOC Ltd while the footer calls it a Pty Ltd.
Is Translux still operating?
Yes, on some routes. When we searched the Translux booking engine on 26 September 2026 for October 2026 dates, it returned bookable trips on Johannesburg to Polokwane, Pretoria to Polokwane, Johannesburg to Nelspruit, and Johannesburg or Pretoria to Maputo.
Searches for Johannesburg to Cape Town, Johannesburg to Durban, Johannesburg to Bloemfontein and any route to Port Elizabeth returned no trips for the dates we checked.
Translux bus from Johannesburg to Polokwane
Service 1513 ran daily on the dates we checked, departing Johannesburg at 09:30 and arriving at Polokwane Station at 14:05 (4 hours 35 minutes), with fares from R340 to R360. The same service runs back from Polokwane to Johannesburg. Johannesburg to Nelspruit was bookable from R410.
Translux bus bookings and online booking
Book Translux tickets online at res.prasa.com/translux/Booking: choose the city you depart from, the city you are going to and your travel date.
- Cancellations must be made at the agency that issued the ticket, or at any Translux reservation office. Agencies may charge a service fee.
- There are no refunds within 48 hours of departure or after departure. Refunds, cancellations and amendments made 48 hours or more before departure carry a 10% admin fee plus VAT, and you must show identification.
- Luggage is one item up to 80 x 60 x 60 cm, with a maximum of 30 kg on domestic and 50 kg on cross-border services.
- Passengers who need special assistance must arrange it in advance through the call centre or the nearest Translux sales office, but the site does not print a call centre number.
Translux does not say anything about reprinting receipts or whether its buses have toilets on board: neither its conditions of carriage nor its booking pages cover them. Ask PRASA on 011 013 6700 or info@prasa.com.
Translux Mozambique (Maputo) service
Translux runs to Mozambique. Service 1760 departs Johannesburg at 08:45 and arrives in Maputo at 16:20 (7 hours 35 minutes), with fares from R490 when we checked. Pretoria to Maputo is also bookable from R490. Maputo and Matola are listed stops.
The Maputo service runs on selected days only: for example 7, 9 and 12 October 2026 were available and 8, 10 and 11 October were not. Carry valid travel documents, because Translux accepts no responsibility if you are refused entry.
Worth knowing before you travel
Two rules from the conditions of carriage catch people out, and with no working phone line you cannot talk your way past them.
Be at the departure point 30 minutes before departure. Arrive later than 10 minutes before the time on your ticket and you waive your right to the seat, which is then given to standby passengers.
Tickets are not transferable and are valid only for the journey printed on them. Any alteration voids the ticket, and a change of trip needs a replacement ticket. Identification may be requested at boarding.
