PRASA Contact Details

Verified 26 September 2026Updated 27 September 2026Official source onlyIndependent directoryPublished by Silas T Nkoana, Cape TownReport a wrong number

The PRASA (Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa) contact number is 012 748 7000 and its email address is info@prasa.com. PRASA Durban station is on 031 813 0244, and the WhatsApp line for long-distance rail is 060 567 2272. We read these details on prasa.com and shosholozameyl.co.za on 23 September 2026.

PRASA publishes two different head office numbers. The contact page gives 012 748 7000 and calls it the uMjantshi reception; the footer on every page shows +27 11 013 6700.

There is a third problem with the footer number. The text reads 011 013 6700, but the link behind it dials 011 013 1667. If you tap it on a phone you will not dial the number you can see. Type it out, or use 012 748 7000.

Long-distance rail emailMlps.info@prasa.com

Several stations answer on Johannesburg 011 013 numbers rather than local ones, because the booking system is centralised. Durban, East London and Queenstown are the exceptions with genuinely local numbers.

Musina is listed with no landline at all, in PRASA’s own words. There is no alternative number for it.

PRASA Cape Town, Pretoria and Gqeberha contacts

PRASA publishes no Cape Town, Western Cape or Stellenbosch station number. It says Metrorail’s Western Cape hub covers Cape Town and its suburbs, but neither prasa.com nor the Shosholoza Meyl station list gives a regional phone or email for it, and metrorail.co.za was not loading when we checked. Use 012 748 7000, info@prasa.com or the enquiry form on prasa.com.

There is no Pretoria or Tshwane office, Pretoria station number or operations room line published either. PRASA’s only published head office address is 30 Wolmarans Street, Hillbrow, Johannesburg. The 012 748 7000 uMjantshi reception number is the one to call. The Gauteng station list covers Johannesburg, Germiston and the call centre only; Germiston is on 011 013 1836.

PRASA publishes no Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) address or number. Port Elizabeth is one of Metrorail’s Eastern Cape routes, but the station list gives East London and Queenstown only. The nearest listed office is East London on 043 700 2007.

The PRASA WhatsApp number

PRASA publishes one WhatsApp line, 060 567 2272, on the Shosholoza Meyl site alongside the station contact list.

Be clear about what it is. It sits on the long-distance passenger rail service, so it handles bookings, tickets and travel queries on those trains. It is not advertised as a general complaints line for Metrorail commuter services, and there is no separate Metrorail complaints WhatsApp number on any PRASA site.

For a complaint about a service, the routes PRASA actually publishes are the enquiry form on prasa.com, which asks you to pick a division, and info@prasa.com.

PRASA complaints email and checking train times

PRASA publishes no dedicated complaints department email. Use info@prasa.com for general enquiries and complaints, and Mlps.info@prasa.com for long-distance rail. There is no WhatsApp service for checking a commuter train: train times for Cape Town, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape are on prasa.com under Train Schedules. For long-distance trains, the WhatsApp line is 060 567 2272.

PRASA procurement and supplier registration

PRASA no longer invites suppliers to register on its own database. To take part in PRASA procurement, a company must be registered on National Treasury’s Central Supplier Database at secure.csd.gov.za. PRASA publishes no procurement or invoice query phone number; use info@prasa.com or the enquiry form.

Reporting corruption or fraud

SMS30916
Fax0867 261 681
Onlinethehotline.co.za/report
PostPO Box 10512, Centurion, 0046

This is an independently run hotline rather than a PRASA desk, which is the point of it. It takes reports by phone, email, SMS, fax, post, an online form and a mobile app.

Do not use it for a late train or a refund. Those go to the station, the call centre or the enquiry form.

PRASA City to City has no working website

City to City and Translux are the coach services run by Autopax, a PRASA subsidiary. On 23 September 2026 none of their websites worked.

  • citytocity.co.za does not resolve at all.
  • translux.co.za returns a server error.
  • autopax.co.za now serves a German-language holding page and is no longer PRASA’s.

PRASA publishes no telephone number for City to City, Translux or Autopax on prasa.com either. The Autopax division page on its own site is broken and shows rail content instead.

What PRASA does offer is the enquiry form on its contact page, where “City-to-City / Translux” and “Autopax” are options in the division list. That form, or 012 748 7000, is the only first-party route we could verify. We are not publishing a City to City booking number from any third-party listing, because none of them can be checked against the operator.

Treat any City to City number you find on a ticketing or directory site with caution, and confirm it before paying anyone.

Before you call

For a booking, have your passenger reference or global reference number. The Shosholoza Meyl booking system searches on it and the call centre will ask for it first.

For a station query, phone the station rather than head office. Head office is a corporate switchboard and does not hold train information.

Timetables are on prasa.com under Train Schedules, and long-distance routes and services are on the Shosholoza Meyl site. Checking those first saves most calls.
