Greyhound is a long-distance coach operator in South Africa. It publishes one telephone number for bookings and two email addresses β one for reservations and a separate one for refunds, complaints and compliments.
Official contact channels
- Bookings: 011 611 8000
- Bookings email: [email protected]
- Refunds, complaints and compliments: [email protected]
The split matters. A refund request sent to the bookings mailbox is being sent to the team that sells seats rather than the team that processes refunds, and Greyhound publishes the customer care address specifically for that purpose.
What this organisation provides
Greyhound is one of the long-established names in South African intercity coach travel, and its published contact set is deliberately small: one number, two mailboxes, and a directory of booking offices.
Greyhound operates scheduled intercity coach services with a premium single-decker and a premium double-decker fleet, and it also runs charters for group hire. Its website publishes routes and a booking office directory, which is the practical way to find a physical point of sale in a given town.
Because coach travel is scheduled, most contact is time-critical in a way that retail contact is not β a departure time is fixed, and a query raised the day before travel is a different matter from one raised a week ahead. Say the travel date early in any call or email.
Address and operating information
Long-distance coach travel in South Africa is heavily seasonal, and demand peaks around public holidays and school terms. Booking and any change request are both materially easier outside those windows, and a seat released close to a peak departure is unlikely to be replaced.
Greyhound does not publish contact centre operating hours on its contact page, and it does not publish a single head office walk-in address there. It publishes a booking offices directory instead, which is where in-person queries should go.
A second number, 011 230 5222, also appears on the site alongside the main booking line.
Support and escalation routes
Charter enquiries are a different kind of request from a seat booking β they concern hiring a vehicle for a group rather than buying a ticket β and are handled through the same published channels.
Have your booking reference, the passenger name and the travel date ready for any query. For a refund, note the fare rules that applied when you booked β refund eligibility on coach tickets is usually determined by the fare type and how far ahead of departure the request is made, rather than by discretion.
Keep the ticket itself, whether printed or electronic. Boarding, refunds and any claim about a journey are all traced through the booking reference on it, and reconstructing a booking without one is slow.
Use the customer care address for a complaint so it is logged by the right team, and ask for a reference. Consumer complaints that cannot be resolved with the operator fall under the National Consumer Commission in South Africa.
