Tracker publishes separate numbers for emergencies, roadside assistance, client support and international callers. Two of them run 24 hours a day, and knowing which is which before an incident is the whole point.

Official provider route

Tracker publishes the emergency and roadside numbers as available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The client support and contact centre numbers are for account, billing and product matters and are not the route for a vehicle in progress.

Store the emergency number in the phone of every driver of the vehicle, not just the account holder’s. A theft or hijacking is reported by whoever is present, and that is frequently not the person who signed the contract.

Product or service support

Tracker provides stolen vehicle recovery, telematics and fleet services in South Africa. Its business combines a device fitted to the vehicle, a monitoring and recovery operation, and in some products a data service reporting on driving and vehicle use.

The recovery operation is what the emergency number reaches. Tracker works alongside the South African Police Service on recoveries, and the two run in parallel rather than one replacing the other β€” a stolen vehicle must be reported to both.

Its contact form also lists subscription matters explicitly, including changes of ownership and subscription cancellation. Those are handled by client support rather than the emergency line, and cancellation in particular usually has notice terms attached to it.

Eligibility, account or policy requirements

Tracker does not publish contact centre operating hours for its client support line, though it publishes the emergency and roadside numbers as continuously available. It does not publish a public walk-in address on its contact page.

Fitment and technical work is generally arranged through Tracker rather than at a branch you visit, and a device that has failed is usually only discovered when it is needed β€” so use any test facility the product offers.

Escalation route

Have the vehicle registration, the VIN and your contract or account number ready. Tracker will verify you as the account holder before acting on a vehicle, which is a protection rather than an obstruction.

Keep the contact numbers on your account current. A theft alert is verified by calling the numbers on file, and an out-of-date number is a common cause of a delayed response.

If a service or contractual matter is not resolved, private security and vehicle recovery providers in South Africa are regulated by the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority, which handles complaints about registered security businesses. Contractual and billing disputes fall under general consumer protection through the National Consumer Commission.

Two practical points Tracker’s own pages make clear by omission. It publishes no head office street address and no contact centre operating hours, so only the emergency and roadside numbers should be assumed to work outside business hours. And because the product depends on a unit fitted to the vehicle, appointment-based matters — an installation, refitting after a repair or a windscreen replacement, or a fitment certificate for your insurer — go through the contact form rather than the emergency line. If you are cancelling, use the form’s cancellation option so there is a written record; a cancellation that stops a recurring debit order is hard to prove on a phone call alone.
