ER24 is a South African emergency medical service, part of the Mediclinic group. Its national emergency contact centre is in Sandton, Johannesburg. The contact details below were read from er24.co.za on 2 September 2026.

Official contact channels

084 124 is the number to save. It is ER24’s national 24-hour emergency line and it is short by design – six digits, easy to dial under pressure. Nothing else on this page is an emergency number.

Helicopter and fixed-wing responses are activated through 084 124 too, not through the aeromedical number. ER24 states this explicitly: EMS activations go via 084124. The 010 205 3588 line is for quoting and booking aeromedical services, including ground ambulance assistance – a planning and transfer desk, not a dispatch line.

In a life-threatening emergency, 084 124 and the national emergency number 10177 for state ambulance services both work. Use whichever gets answered – do not spend the time deciding.

Services and facilities

ER24 provides road ambulance operations, aeromedical services by helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft, event medical services, site-based medical services for workplaces, and international services.

Non-emergency queries are routed by category rather than by phone. ER24’s contact page publishes separate request routes, and using the right one avoids being passed along:

Ask for the patient report through the patient document request route, not the emergency line. That record is what a medical scheme, an insurer or a later claim depends on, and it has its own process.

Address and operating information

The national 24-hour emergency contact centre is based in Sandton, Johannesburg, and operates around the clock. ER24 does not publish a head office street address on its contact page; branches around the country are listed through its Find a Branch facility.

Because dispatch is national from one centre, you do not need to find your local branch in an emergency – 084 124 routes the response.

Support and escalation routes

Raise a service or billing complaint through the customer feedback or billing and claims route, quoting the incident date, location and patient name, and keep the reference.

ER24 publishes a fraud and ethics line, run independently through a tip-offs service. Note that it has three entry points depending on where you are calling from:

These are ethics reporting numbers only – they are not alternative emergency or customer service lines, and the mailbox is on the Mediclinic tip-offs domain because ER24 is part of that group.

Beyond the company, clinical conduct by a paramedic or doctor is a matter for the Health Professions Council of South Africa. A medical scheme dispute over what was paid for an ambulance goes to the Council for Medical Schemes, free of charge, and a billing dispute falls under the Consumer Protection Act and the National Consumer Commission. A complaint about your health information goes to the Information Regulator.
