The Laingsburg Traffic Department is a section of Laingsburg Municipality in the Central Karoo, Western Cape. One number covers the whole department, including licensing, fines and enforcement.

Official contact channels

The municipality lists three named officials against licence, fines and vehicle licence queries, and all three share the same 023 551 1110 number with individual mailboxes. Use the [email protected] address instead, since it survives staff changes.

The municipal important numbers block also carries an entry for Police: Laingsburg on 023 551 8200. That is the South African Police Service, not the traffic department, and a traffic fine or licence query put to it will be redirected.

Services and responsibilities

The municipality publishes a fee schedule for each licence transaction along with the documents required. Learner licence applications need an original identity document to book and, on passing, proof of address no older than three months plus two colour identity photographs. A Code 8 driving licence application needs an original identity document, the original learner licence and four colour identity photographs. Code 10 and Code 14 applications need the same documents at a higher booking fee. A professional driving permit needs an identity document, driving licence, proof of address no older than three months and four photographs. A renewal needs an identity document, proof of address and two photographs, and a temporary licence is available if yours is lost or expired.

Check the current fees before you go. The licence page carries a last published date of 12 August 2021, so the amounts on it are several years old even though the documents required are unlikely to have changed.
