The Office of the Chief Justice publishes no separate telephone number for the registrar of the Johannesburg high court. The contact it does publish for that court is the court manager office, and registry enquiries go through it.

Services and responsibilities

A registrar is the administrative officer of a high court. The registry issues summonses and notices of motion, accepts filings, maintains the court file, sets matters down and publishes the court roll. It does not give legal advice and cannot tell you how a judge is likely to decide.

Office and address information

The court is at Office 106, First Floor, on the corner of Von Brandis and Pritchard Street, Johannesburg. Post goes to Private Bag X10, Marshalltown, 2107, shared with the Gauteng Division at Pretoria.

Applications and escalation

Filing and set down are done at the registry in person or through the courts electronic filing arrangements rather than by telephone, which is why no direct registry line is published. The Johannesburg magistrate court at 26 Fox Street on 011 491 5000 is a different court with its own clerks.
