The 135 short code only works from an FNB Connect SIM. If the problem is with that SIM, or it has been lost or stolen, use another phone and call 087 575 0147. FNB’s Talk to us page lists the same numbers for both personal and business FNB Connect customers; only the weekend hours differ.
FNB Connect “Please call me” and self-service
FNB’s list of handy FNB Connect numbers includes a “Please call me” service, but the code is not shown in the text of the page, so check it on your FNB Connect SIM through *147# or with customer service on 135. Most other tasks do not need a call. Dial *147# from your FNB Connect SIM to buy bundles, manage bundles, turn bundle depletion notifications on or off, get your phone’s data and MMS settings (“Phone Settings”), or make a manual payment if a scheduled Top Up payment fails.
- Check airtime and data: dial *111#, *147#, FNB Cellphone Banking (*120*321# or *130*321#), Online Banking or the FNB app.
- Auto Top Up: set it up in Online Banking or the FNB app under My Bank Accounts, My SIM Cards; it recharges when your balance reaches R5 or 10MB.
- Usage history: Connect transaction history shows your last 150 transactions or calls, and itemised billing can be requested on Online Banking or the FNB app.
- Depletion notifications: sent by SMS at 50%, 80% and 100% of each bundle, and by email if FNB has your email address.
Getting an FNB Connect SIM, RICA and porting
FNB says you need a qualifying transactional account to get an FNB Connect SIM plan. You can take up a SIM through FNB Cellphone Banking (*120*321#, then “FNB Connect”) or at an FNB branch, and your SIM is RICAed automatically from the FICA details you gave when you opened your bank account; if those have changed, take your ID and proof of address to a branch. To port your existing number to FNB Connect, the number must be on prepaid. When a port completes, your old SIM stops working and unused airtime, minutes, data and SMSs are lost, so use them first. FNB sends an OTP to confirm a port request: if you do not reply within 4 hours the request is cancelled, and if you receive a port OTP you did not ask for, ignore it and your number will not be ported.
FNB Connect plans and rewards
FNB Connect offers month-to-month SIM-only plans with no fixed-term contract, Top Up plans, prepaid bundles and a Global Travel eSIM with prepaid data in over 200 destinations. SIM plans can use a physical SIM or an eSIM if your phone supports it. FNB says all FNB Connect SIMs get a free unlimited WhatsApp messaging reward and 35 voice minutes a month, and up to 15% back on SIM plan and prepaid bundle spend, subject to terms and conditions. Business customers can take FNB Business SIM plans. If an FNB Connect Top Up package starts mid-month, FNB says there is no pro rata charge.
