FNB’s 24-hour single fraud line is 087 575 9444 (+27 11 369 2924 from outside South Africa), and lost or damaged cards are reported on 087 575 9406. For complaints, call FNB’s complaints resolution team on 087 575 9408 or email care@fnb.co.za. For everyday banking questions, FNB directs customers into its own authenticated channels: log in to the FNB App or Online Banking, open the Menu and choose Contact us, or use Secure Chat. FNB’s contact pages do not list a single general call centre number for all banking queries, so treat any “FNB customer care number” you find elsewhere with caution. Every detail below was read from fnb.co.za on 14 September 2026.

FNB fraud line: how to report fraud

FNB runs one fraud line for all fraud and theft, 24 hours a day: 087 575 9444, or +27 11 369 2924 if you are abroad. FNB’s incident reporting process has six steps:

  • call the single fraud line straight away
  • give the agent a detailed account of what happened
  • write down the reference number the agent gives you; it is also sent by SMS to your inContact number
  • print and complete the fraud claim form for the incident (FNB publishes separate credit card and debit card fraud claim forms)
  • fax or email the form to the number on the form within three days, with your reference number in the subject line
  • allow seven working days after sending the form for feedback from the investigation team

The three-day deadline matters: FNB says the incident cannot be investigated further or settled until the claim form arrives. For online scams such as advance-fee fraud, FNB also lists the South African Police Service email 419scam@saps.org.za on its security contacts page.

Lost or damaged cards and card disputes

Report a lost or damaged card on 087 575 9406. FNB lists the same number for ATM fraud. To dispute a transaction, the numbers depend on the card: credit card disputes on 087 575 1111, and debit card disputes on 087 575 9404, which is also the number to follow up on a dispute you have already lodged. Disputes can be emailed to fnbcard@fnb.co.za, and FNB publishes a dispute form on its Security Centre.

FNB email address and “call me back”

The general email address FNB publishes for complaints is care@fnb.co.za. Card and dispute queries go to fnbcard@fnb.co.za, and credit card applications to fastapp@fnb.co.za. FNB does not publish a separate head office email for general banking queries on these pages. Instead it points customers to Contact us inside the FNB App or Online Banking, and to Secure Chat, which put you in an authenticated channel where an agent can see your accounts. The contact pages we checked do not list separate phone numbers for login problems, new accounts or loan protection, so start with Contact us in the app rather than a number from a search result.

FNB complaints process

FNB’s complaints page sets out how to log a complaint and what happens next.

  • Get in touch: through the FNB App or Online Banking (Menu, then Contact us), on 087 575 9408, at care@fnb.co.za, or at an FNB branch.
  • Give details: your full name, business name if applicable, contact details, a detailed description, and any documents or evidence.
  • Await feedback: FNB confirms receipt within one business day.

FNB then reviews and investigates the complaint, with complex matters following an internal escalation process, and aims to resolve it within five business days, keeping you informed if more time is needed. If you are not satisfied, FNB names the independent bodies you can escalate to: the FAIS Ombudsman, the Information Regulator, the National Financial Ombud Scheme, the Financial Sector Conduct Authority, the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud, the National Credit Regulator, the National Consumer Commission and JSE Market Regulation. Banking disputes generally go to the National Financial Ombud Scheme, and credit matters to the National Credit Regulator.

FNB branches and head office

FNB’s contact pages do not publish direct telephone numbers for individual branches, so searches for branches such as Richards Bay, Northcliff or Giyani are best handled through the FNB App or Online Banking, or by visiting the branch. FNB’s head office is at 4 Merchant Place, corner Fredman Drive and Rivonia Road, Sandton, 2196, with a postal address of PO Box 650149, Benmore, 2010. It is a corporate address rather than a banking hall.

First National Bank is a division of FirstRand Bank Limited, an authorised financial services and credit provider, registration number 1929/001225/06, NCRCP20.
