Eligibility and policy requirements
You need an FNB or RMB Private Bank transactional account, because premiums can only be paid from one of these accounts. You must be a South African citizen or permanent resident with a bar-coded ID or smart card, and aged 18 or older. On the Family Plan, your spouse must meet the same conditions.
Premiums start from R50 per month per person and R12 for children. The plan can cover your spouse, up to 8 children, 4 parents or parents-in-law and up to 8 extended family members.
Waiting periods apply: 3 months for illness from natural causes, 12 months for specific pre-existing conditions and maternity, and 6 months for critical illness. The plan does not pay out for alcohol or drug-related events.
First National Bank is a division of FirstRand Bank Limited (registration 1929/001225/06), an authorised financial services and credit provider, NCRCP20. The plan is insured by FirstRand Life Assurance Limited.
