FNB Funeral Cover Contact Details
The FNB Funeral Plan policy servicing line is 087 736 7772, and the email address FNB gives for it is fnblife@fnb.co.za. To be called back about taking out cover, use the “Call me back” button on FNB’s Funeral Plan page. These details were read on fnb.co.za, on the insurance contact page, the FNB Funeral Cover and Funeral Plan pages, and the complaints process page, on 16 September 2026.
ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory. We are not FNB, we do not sell funeral cover, and we cannot see or change your policy.

FNB does not publish call centre hours for the Funeral Plan line. The 087 736 7774 number on the same contact page belongs to FNB Life Insurance, a different product, so use 087 736 7772 for a funeral policy. The Accidental Death Plan, which FNB lists beside the Funeral Plan, has its own “Call me back” button on the FNB Funeral Cover page.
Product or service support
FNB describes the Funeral Plan as cover of up to R100 000 for you and your family, from R50 a month. You can add up to 21 family members to one plan, and you can cover family members without covering yourself. The plan includes a Double Accidental Death benefit of up to R200 000 each for you and your spouse, and FNB says it pays back up to six months of premiums after three years, subject to its terms.
A Burial Repatriation benefit pays to transport the deceased to the place of burial anywhere within South Africa, and one family member can travel with them, with one night’s accommodation included if needed. FNB says premiums rise by 8% and cover by an optional 5% each year on the policy anniversary, and that you can opt out of the cover increase once a year. Questions about an existing policy go to the policy servicing line.
On claims, FNB says it pays valid claims within 24 hours, with one in five paid in 30 minutes, and that it searches for beneficiaries who may not know the cover exists. The claim needs the ID or passport of the deceased and of the claimant, the BI1663 notice of death, a police statement if the death was unnatural, and the completed claim form. Our FNB funeral claim page covers that process in more depth.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
- Who can apply: a South African citizen or permanent resident with a green barcoded ID or Smart ID card, or a non-South African citizen with a valid passport or visa who banks with FNB. You must be over 18 and have a valid South African bank account, which can be with any bank.
- Non-citizens can apply only on the FNB App or online.
- Waiting periods: six months for natural death and 12 months for suicide. If you have already served these with a licensed South African insurer, FNB says you do not serve them again when you switch, subject to its terms.
- Exclusions: no payout for death while actively taking part in a criminal act, when the plan’s terms are not met, or when information given at application, on a change or at claim stage is materially incorrect, fraudulent or left out.
- Which terms apply: FNB publishes separate terms for policies taken out before and after 19 February 2023, so check the date of your policy.
Escalation route
- Start with policy servicing on 087 736 7772 or fnblife@fnb.co.za.
- If that does not resolve it, log a complaint in the FNB App or Online Banking under Menu, then Contact us, call the complaints resolution team on 087 575 9408, email care@fnb.co.za, or visit a branch. Give your full name, contact details, a detailed description and any documents. FNB says it confirms receipt within one business day and aims to resolve complaints within five business days.
- If you are still unhappy with an insurance outcome, take it to the National Financial Ombud Scheme on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za. FNB’s complaints page also lists the FAIS Ombud, the Information Regulator and the Financial Sector Conduct Authority among the bodies you can approach.
FNB’s head office is at 4 Merchant Place, corner Fredman Drive and Rivonia Road, Sandton, 2196, with postal address PO Box 650149, Benmore, 2010. FNB is a division of FirstRand Bank Limited.
