Send switching instructions to the debit order mailbox
FNB runs debit order switching as a service when you move your banking to FNB, and it handles queries about debit orders being collected from an FNB account. Send your switching instructions to the debit order mailbox rather than to general enquiries, and include your account details.
FNB debit check: why a debit order did not go off
FNB supports DebiCheck, the system under which you confirm a debit order mandate before collections start. A DebiCheck mandate you have not approved will not be collected, which is the first thing to check when an expected debit order does not go off.
FNB also offers inContact notifications and balance and limit alerts, which show debit orders as they are collected rather than after the fact.
Disputing a debit order
A disputed debit order is a different matter from a switching instruction: the reversal is handled through your bank account channels rather than by the switching desk. If a complaint is not resolved, care@fnb.co.za or 087 575 9408 is the published complaints route, and a banking complaint then goes to the National Financial Ombud on 0860 800 900.
