ACCA has a Johannesburg office with its own number, but almost everything a student or member actually needs is handled centrally through a case system rather than by that office. Knowing which is which saves a wasted call.

What the Johannesburg office does not handle
ACCA directs members, affiliates and students to raise a case through its knowledge base rather than to the local office, and it names the categories explicitly.
- Members and affiliates: CPD returns and requirements, subscriptions, official receipt requests, letters of good standing, exam history, membership application, readmission, and My Experience records
- Students and prospective students: registrations, exams, the practical experience requirement, subscriptions and payments
Raise those through the Help section of your MyACCA account. ACCA also asks that anything you would have posted be raised as a case instead, warning that post takes longer to answer. The local office is the right call for local member events and courses in South Africa, and for a genuinely local matter.
A letter of good standing
This is the request South Africans most often need and most often chase, because employers and other professional bodies ask for it. It is a case, not a phone call, and it is issued only if your subscriptions and CPD are up to date. Check both before you request it, otherwise the case comes back asking for them and you lose a week.
Complaining about an ACCA member
ACCA publishes a specific route for making a complaint about one of its members, separate from a service complaint about ACCA itself, and a whistleblowing process alongside it. If your complaint is about an accountant who is an ACCA member, that is the correct door.
Note that ACCA membership is not the same as being a registered auditor in South Africa. Audit work here is regulated by the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors, and a complaint about a statutory audit belongs with IRBA. A complaint about tax work may also belong with a recognised controlling body under the Tax Administration Act. Check which body actually regulates the work in question before you file.
Other published routes
- A Customer Service Charter setting out what ACCA commits to
- A route to report a security vulnerability
- A frequently asked questions section that answers most subscription and exam questions without a case
One caution on payments: ACCA subscriptions and exam fees are paid through your MyACCA account. Nobody legitimate collects an ACCA fee into a personal account or offers to register you for exams for a commission.
