Dis-Chem publishes one national number and roughly 330 stores, and the number does not reach any of them. The Careline is a head-office customer care desk that keeps shorter hours than the shops it serves. Read from dischem.co.za on 6 September 2026.

Dis-Chem Careline

Read those hours against a Dis-Chem trading day and the gap is obvious: the stores open seven days a week and well past half past four, and the Careline does not. A Saturday problem waits until Monday unless the store itself can solve it.

The contact form asks which store, not which number

Dis-Chem’s written contact form carries a dropdown of every branch, and choosing the right one is the routing. That is the mechanism the company has built instead of publishing branch telephone numbers – so name the branch exactly as it appears in that list, because several are distinguished only by the centre they sit in. Dis-Chem also does not publish a head-office switchboard in readable text on its contact page; the only number given a visible label is the Careline.

The store, not the Careline, holds the prescription

A dispensary query is the clearest case for going to the branch directly. The pharmacist who dispensed a script, the stock of a specific medicine, a Pack My Meds or blister-pack arrangement and a wound-care booking are all store-level and store-held. The Careline cannot see a prescription record. Find the branch on the store finder, which lists its own trading hours, and call or walk in.

Which body hears which complaint

One practical note on price: Dis-Chem states that sale prices shown on its website are exclusive to the website and may differ from the price in your local store. A screenshot of an online price is not a promise the till will match it.
