Boksburg does not have its own municipality. It is part of the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, and what people call the Boksburg municipality office is Ekurhuleni’s Boksburg Customer Care Centre on Trichardt Street. The city’s site lists the same 011 999 5100 number for the Vosloorus Customer Care Centre, which also has a Boksburg address at 1 George Makhubela Street, so confirm which office you have reached.

Services and responsibilities

Ekurhuleni’s customer care centres, including Boksburg, handle:

  • municipal account payments and account queries
  • lodging and following up complaints
  • information on all metro services and referral to the right department
  • booking of municipal facilities

Electricity, water, sewer and road faults are logged with the call centre on 0860 543 000, by email, on the city’s X account @CoE_Call_Centre or the My CoE app. The city asks you to give the suburb, the nearest cross street and a landmark, and to note the reference number and the operator’s name. The metro’s PAIA and POPIA manuals are available at each customer care centre.

Office/address information

The Boksburg Customer Care Centre is on Trichardt Street, Boksburg. Ekurhuleni’s customer care centres are open on weekdays from 08:00 to 16:00, except Wednesdays, when they open at 09:00. The city’s pages give two different postal codes for the office, 1459 and 1460.

Municipal bills can also be paid at retailers including Checkers, Pick n Pay, PEP, Makro and SPAR, or online through Siyakhokha. The city notes that the old Easypay prefix 91339 was discontinued in December 2022, so update any saved payment reference.

Applications and escalation

Log a fault or account issue with the call centre first and keep the reference, then take it to the Boksburg Customer Care Centre in person if it is not resolved. Report corruption by municipal officials to the National Anti-Corruption Hotline on 0800 701 701.
