The other gives information@standardbank.co.za and +27 10 249 0100. Both give 0860 123 000 for enquiries and 0800 020 600 for fraud.
Standard Bank’s contact page gives consultant hours of 08:00 to 22:00, Monday to Sunday. It does not give separate hours for the internet banking desk. Physical address: 5 Simmonds Street, Selby, Johannesburg, 2001. To visit in person, use the branch locator on standardbank.co.za.
Product or service support
Standard Bank has upgraded its Online Banking platform, now at experience.standardbank.co.za. According to its FAQ, you can still go back to the old platform by clicking your name at the top and choosing “Return to old Online Banking”. Do this if your home loan account does not show on the new dashboard. AutoShare Invest and Tax-Free Savings accounts are not on the new platform yet, so use the old platform or the Shyft app for those. If you use the Banking App, some transactions will ask you to approve them in the app.
Useful self-help before you call:
- Debit orders: Online Banking lets you reverse debit orders under R200 free of charge.
- Outages: the Service Updates status page covers Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Cellphone Banking, ATMs, card payments and branches. You can subscribe by email, SMS, webhook, Atom or RSS.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
- Register: existing clients create a profile and link their cards. If you already use the app, sign in with the same email address and password.
- Cellphone banking: dial *120*2345# on any phone linked to your account. You need your card number, PIN and ID to register. It only works inside South Africa, and if you have no airtime you can recharge on *130*2345#.
Online Banking for Business is a separate platform and app for business clients. To register you need a South African ID, a mobile device and at least one Standard Bank business product. If you still have a username and password from the old Internet Banking, you can use them to sign in. Clients on Business Online, Standard Bank’s separate enterprise platform, use a different call centre on 0860 123 007.
Standard Bank will never ask for your full card details, password, PIN or OTP, and will never ask you to update personal details through a link. WhatsApp messages from the bank come only from 064 570 0291 and carry the verified business tick. If your cellphone number stops working without warning, check straight away whether it is a SIM swap.
