Standard Bank offers savings, retirement and market-linked investment products to South African customers. The contact details below were read from Standard Bank’s own contact and investment pages on 2 September 2026.
Official provider route
- Personal banking and investment enquiries: 0860 123 000
- From outside South Africa: +27 10 824 1515
- Business banking: 0860 109 075
- Online: the call-me-back request form on standardbank.co.za
Standard Bank publishes no separate investment or wealth telephone number. Investment enquiries route through the personal banking line, which is worth knowing before searching for a dedicated one that does not exist.
Consultants are available Monday to Sunday, 08:00 to 22:00 – seven days a week and well into the evening, which is unusually wide cover for investment queries in South Africa.
Product or service support
The investment range spans short-term savings through to long-term market-linked products:
- Share trading for local and global markets
- Retirement income solutions for drawing an income after retirement
- Global and local discretionary services, where a manager invests on your behalf
- Savings products across short, medium and long timeframes
- Offshore investing, alongside trust, estate planning and wealth services
Holding a savings or investment account also boosts points earned under UCount Rewards.
Know which product you hold before calling. A discretionary portfolio, a share trading account and a fixed savings product are administered by different teams under different rules, and the consultant’s first question will be which one you mean. Have the account or portfolio number, not just your ID.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
Market-linked investments carry the risk of loss, unlike a deposit account. Ask for the total fee load in writing – advice, platform and fund management fees stack, and their combined effect on a long-term return is larger than most people expect.
Offshore investing draws on your annual foreign investment allowance and requires SARS tax clearance above the discretionary threshold. That is a revenue process, not a bank one, so start it early.
Retirement products are governed by their own rules on access and transfer, which are set in law rather than by the bank.
Escalation route
Raise it on 0860 123 000, then in writing through the complaints route, keeping the reference. For investments, ask for the recommendation and the reasons for it in writing – that record is what any later complaint turns on.
- Report a new fraud incident: 0800 222 050, or +27 10 824 2090 internationally
- Report unethical behaviour: 0800 204 547
The ombud for an investment complaint is not the banking one. A dispute about investment advice goes to the Ombud for Financial Services Providers (FAIS Ombud), and market conduct to the Financial Sector Conduct Authority. Only a banking-service complaint goes to the National Financial Ombud Scheme’s banking division, and a retirement fund matter goes to the Pension Funds Adjudicator.
