For Absa Internet Banking customer support, the main route is the Absa Contact Centre on 08600 08600, option 4. Absa’s troubleshooting information specifically directs customers to this route for online banking issues such as a suspended service and a hold placed on an online banking profile. If you are outside South Africa, the digital banking support number listed by Absa is +27 (0)11 501 5110.

Absa Internet Banking login

To use the Absa Internet Banking login, go to absa.co.za and select Log in at the top right of the home page. Absa now refers to the service as Absa Online Banking. The older www.absainternetbanking.co.za address did not resolve to a website when it was checked on 14 September 2026, while Absa’s own help guides direct customers to absa.co.za.

Because the old address no longer works, take care with look-alike “Absa internet banking” websites and links sent in SMSes or emails. Type absa.co.za yourself or use the Absa Banking App rather than relying on an unfamiliar link.

Register for Absa Online Banking

To register, select Log in and then Register for Absa Online Banking. The registration process described by Absa asks for your details and the CAPTCHA code, followed by your 16-digit ATM card number and ATM PIN.

  • Choose your billing account.
  • Enter your email address.
  • Accept the Personal Client Agreement.
  • Create a 5-digit PIN.
  • Accept the verification request.

Absa Internet Banking password and PIN help

If you have forgotten or blocked your password, enter your access account number, PIN and user number, then select Forgot your password. Confirm the verification sent to the cellphone number Absa has on record and set a new password.

To reset your PIN, choose Reset pin and confirm the verification. Enter the required characters of your password together with your ATM card number and PIN, then choose a new 5-digit PIN. Your online PIN is four to five digits and can be different from your card PIN. Absa Online Banking gives you three attempts before it locks you out.

Absa Internet Banking user number

Absa asks for three items when you log in: your access account number, your PIN and your user number. The access account number is specific to your bank account. When first registering, you can use your Absa credit card, savings or cheque account number.

The user number identifies the person logging in to the profile. Absa says the main user is always number 1, the second user is number 2, and so on, and the login field defaults to 1. If you and your spouse both need access to one account, each person gets a separate profile and user number. To set up additional users, Absa says to visit a branch with your South African ID and your bank card.

Verification problems and linking a new device

To link a new device, sign in to Absa Online Banking, go to Settings, Manage devices and then Link a device. Scan the QR code with the Absa Banking App to complete the process.

If SureCheck verification messages are not arriving, Absa suggests checking that the Banking App is your verification device and that push notifications are enabled. It also suggests switching from open WiFi to mobile data. As a last resort, allow the request to expire three times and follow the on-screen steps to generate a verification number. Absa automatically logs you off after six minutes of inactivity.

Suspended Absa Online Banking service

Absa debits online banking fees from the nominated cost account on the last day of the month and tries again on the third working day of the following month. If there are still no funds, or if the nominated account is a non-transactional account such as a Tru-Save or Moneybuilder account, the online banking service is suspended.

For a service suspended because of unpaid fees, Absa’s troubleshooting guide directs you to 08600 08600, option 4. An agent can tell you how much is outstanding and how to settle it, or you can visit your nearest Absa branch. Once the service has been reactivated, Absa says to keep enough money in the account for at least 24 hours so the outstanding fees can be debited.

Absa fraud line and hold on an online banking profile

If you receive an error because a hold has been placed on your online banking profile, Absa lists the fraud hotline as 0860 557 557 and also gives 08600 08600, option 4 as a support route. Have your access account number and user number ready when you call.

For a lost or stolen card, the numbers listed by Absa are 0800 11 11 55 or 011 501 5050. These are separate from the main Internet Banking helpdesk number, so use the contact that matches the problem you need to report.

Absa Internet Banking email contact

The online banking email address listed by Absa is ib@absa.co.za. The general email address listed on the page is absa@absa.co.za. For problems that Absa specifically routes to an agent, including a suspended online banking service or a hold on the profile, the published telephone route remains 08600 08600, option 4.
