Absa Banking Contact Details
For help with the Absa Banking App or online banking, call 08600 08600 or email absa@absa.co.za. Absa lists the same number, with +27 11 501 5110 for callers outside South Africa, as a digital banking line open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. App fraud has its own 24-hour line and WhatsApp chat on 0860 557 557. These routes come from Absa’s Talk to us directory, App Banking page and Banking App help guides, read on absa.co.za on 16 September 2026.
We should be clear that ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory. We are not Absa and cannot unlock a profile, reset a passcode or reverse a payment.

Absa’s Online Banking page separately shows a support number of 0860 111 515. None of the Absa pages we read gives a WhatsApp number for general app support; the WhatsApp chat on 0860 557 557 is for fraud.
What this organisation provides
The Absa Banking App runs on Android and iOS and is zero-rated, so using it does not consume data. To register you need a smartphone, a registered cellphone number, your account number and your ATM card and PIN. Absa’s help guides show these fixes in the app, several of them using AbsaID facial biometrics:
- New phone: tap I already have an account, enter your ID number, scan your face and choose the profile to link. This works only if Home Affairs holds your South African ID photo and Absa has your current cellphone number; otherwise link with your existing logon details.
- Forgotten passcode: tap Forgot Passcode? on the login screen, scan your face and set a new 5-digit passcode.
- Blocked card PIN: under Cards, choose the card marked PIN Blocked and tap Unblock card PIN, then use the card once at an ATM or till to activate it.
- Debit orders: reverse them under Menu, then Debit Orders, as long as the debit is under 40 days old and no more than R500.
- FICA: upload ID and proof of residence under Personal details as GIF, JPEG, PDF, PNG or TIFF files of up to 4MB; Absa takes up to 48 hours to update your status.
Inside the app, Absa Abby is a virtual assistant that answers banking questions 24 hours a day, in English only, and gives step-by-step help with tasks such as stopping a card or managing linked devices. It is available only after you log in.
Address and operating information
Absa’s head office is at Absa Towers West, 15 Troye Street, Johannesburg, and it is not a help desk. Absa’s help guides send debit order reversals above R500 to a branch, and a branch can also help with online banking reactivation. Use the branch locator on absa.co.za for addresses and trading hours.
Absa’s own security advice for the app: never store passwords or PINs as plain text on your phone, avoid public Wi-Fi for banking, and if your phone is lost or hacked, delink it through Manage Devices on Absa Online. Absa says approving transactions in the app is safer than SMS verification and helps protect you from SIM swap fraud.
Support and escalation routes
- For money taken without your consent, report it in the app or on 0860 557 557 first, and ask about Absa’s Digital Fraud Warranty for app transactions.
- For access or service problems, call 08600 08600 and keep the reference number.
- If the matter stays open, log it with Absa’s Complaint Resolution Suite on 0800 41 41 41 or actionline@absa.co.za (weekdays 08:00 to 16:30).
- If Absa’s final response does not resolve it, the National Financial Ombud Scheme hears banking complaints on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za.
