Absa publishes three different numbers that all get called the Absa Online number, and one of them is printed two ways on the bank’s own pages. Sorting them out is most of the work. All four routes below were read from absa.co.za on 6 September 2026.

The digital banking numbers

Look closely at the last two. 08600 08600 and 0860 008 600 are the same eleven digits grouped differently – Absa writes it one way on its digital banking listing and the other way under general enquiries. It is one number, not two, and dialling either grouping works. The genuinely separate one is 0860 111 515, which is the Online Banking desk rather than the general line.

When the login is the problem

A locked profile, a failed one-time password or a device that will not register is a digital banking matter and belongs on 0860 111 515 or the 24-hour digital line. Absa also runs a self-service section and an in-app call-back, and for a profile problem the call-back is often faster than holding, because the consultant who returns the call already has the account open.

When it is not a login problem

The distinction matters because the support desk cannot reverse a transaction. Reporting an unauthorised payment to Online Banking support instead of to the fraud line loses time that the fraud line exists to save.

One habit worth keeping

Absa never asks for a one-time password, a PIN or a full card number on a call, and no legitimate Absa consultant will ask you to install remote-access software so they can fix your online banking. If a call goes that way, put the phone down and dial 0860 557 557 yourself. Absa Bank Limited is registration number 1986/004794/06, an authorised financial services provider and a registered credit provider under NCRCP7, with head office at Absa Towers West, 15 Troye Street, Johannesburg.
