Absa’s credit card division is reached through its general card support line, 0861 462 273, or +27 11 354 4001 from outside South Africa, with email to contactcard@absa.co.za. Card upgrades have a separate number, 0861 114 411, and to lower a credit limit Absa says to call the number printed on the back of your card. We read these details on Absa’s credit card, credit limits and My application pages, and in its Talk to us directory, on absa.co.za on 16 September 2026.

ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory. We do not work for Absa and cannot see a card account, change a limit or block a card.

Absa does not publish call centre hours for 0861 462 273 or 0861 114 411, and none of its card pages lists a general card mailbox other than contactcard@absa.co.za. Premium Banking and Private Banking cards are listed under those banking teams’ own numbers and mailboxes.

Absa does not give a public street address for its card division. Its card pages send in-person queries to your nearest branch, and the group’s head office is at Absa Towers West, 15 Troye Street, Johannesburg. Absa Bank Limited is a registered credit provider, NCRCP7, and a credit card is a credit agreement under the National Credit Act.

What you need before contacting

For a disputed charge, have the date, amount and merchant ready before you call. To reopen an online application you started and did not finish, you need your ID or passport number and the reference number Absa gave you.

Gold card applicants must be 18 or older and bring a valid South African ID book or smart card, proof of residence and three consecutive months of proof of income, and applications are subject to an affordability assessment.

If you are applying or asking to upgrade, check which card fits first. Absa Bank’s card range, with the monthly fees and recommended incomes shown on its Explore page:

Step-by-step contact process

  1. If the card is being used without your permission, block it on 0800 111 155 at once and report fraud on 0860 557 557.
  2. Log any other card problem with card support on 0861 462 273 or contactcard@absa.co.za, giving the date, amount and merchant for any disputed charge.
  3. To upgrade, call 0861 114 411. To ask for a limit increase, use Offers in the Banking App, go online at absa.co.za, visit a branch or call the number on your card, which is also the number for lowering a limit.
  4. To finish an application, open the Saved applications option on the credit card pages with your ID or passport number and reference number.

A self-service page on absa.co.za advises against using the card to move money. Electronic transfers from the card to other bank accounts and cash withdrawals attract charges, while card purchases do not, and purchases can be moved onto a budget plan of 3 to 60 months. On the Gold card, qualifying purchases get up to 57 days interest-free.

Escalation route

  1. Escalate an unresolved matter to the Complaint Resolution Suite on 0800 41 41 41 or actionline@absa.co.za, weekdays 08:00 to 16:30.
  2. The National Financial Ombud Scheme, on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za, reviews credit card complaints that Absa has not settled, without charge.
