First for Women’s car insurance number is 0861 33 93 39, the same line for quotes, existing policies and car claims. Life insurance is handled separately: call 0861 11 16 67 for a life cover quote, 0860 10 51 94 for an existing life policy, and 0861 11 18 05 to claim. We read firstforwomen.co.za, including its Contact Us and Life Insurance pages, on 16 September 2026.

ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory. We are not 1st for Women or its life insurer, and we cannot quote, change or claim on a policy.

The life quote number 0861 11 16 67 appears only on the Life Insurance page, not in the contact page’s product table. The contact page labels 0860 10 51 94 as the life “Customer Service and Sales” line, so it is the fallback for a quote.

The life insurance team works Monday to Friday 08h00 to 18h00 and Saturday 08h00 to 13h00; the contact page does not give Sunday or public holiday hours for life. Car insurance sales run Monday to Friday 08h00 to 19h00, with support from 08h00 to 17h00, and both work Saturday 08h00 to 13h00. The address is Auto & General Park, 1 Telesure Lane, Riverglen, Dainfern, 2191.

Product or service support

1st for Women sells car, home and building cover through First for Women Insurance Company Limited, a licensed non-life insurer (FSP 15261). Its life products are long-term policies underwritten by 1Life, a licensed life insurer and financial services provider (FSP 24769). That split is why a car policy and a life policy have different phone numbers, mailboxes and claims teams.

The life cover is aimed at women. The Life Insurance page says you can add up to 10 beneficiaries, get up to R10 million in cover, and that the cover does not expire. Pure Life Cover comes as Basic, paying up to R200,000, or Elevated, paying from R200,000 upwards. Optional add-ons are:

  • All Woman Dread Disease Cover, from R250,000 to R1 million, for woman-related and childhood cancers, pregnancy complications and accidental HIV infection from violent crime.
  • Dread Disease Cover, a lump sum for illnesses such as cancer, a major heart operation or an organ transplant.
  • Disablement Cover, which pays part of the benefit if you become permanently disabled and cannot work.

A claim on an add-on does not reduce your life cover amount.

Eligibility, account or policy requirements

Premiums depend on your age, gender, occupation and health. The Life Insurance page lists reasons a life claim can be rejected: information withheld from 1st for Women, suicide within two years of taking out the policy, and death from excessive alcohol or drug use, radioactivity or nuclear explosions. Other exclusions are in the policy schedule.

For a life claim, 1st for Women’s claims guide says the beneficiary named on the policy should lodge it. Have the policy number and original or certified copies of the ID ready, plus the beneficiary’s bank account details and ID number, because the payout goes to them. Other documents, such as doctors’ reports, depend on the claim, so ask the claims team what they need.

Escalation route

  1. Raise the problem with life customer service on 0860 10 51 94, or the life claims line on 0861 11 18 05, and ask for a reference.
  2. If it is not resolved, lodge a complaint on 0860 22 21 78 or disputeresolution@firstforwomen.co.za, quoting that reference.
  3. A life insurance dispute that 1st for Women does not settle can go to the National Financial Ombud Scheme, which took over the life insurance ombud’s work, on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za.
