Capitec Funeral Contact Details
Capitec sells its funeral plan as Funeral Cover, which you take out on the Capitec app or at a branch. For questions about a plan, call the Client Care Centre on 0860 10 20 43 (24 hours) or WhatsApp 067 418 9565; to arrange transport of a deceased family member under the plan, call 0860 77 75 54. We read these on capitecbank.co.za on 16 September 2026.
ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory and not Capitec. We cannot quote a premium, change your cover or log a claim.
Official provider route
| What it is for | Contact |
|---|---|
| Taking out a funeral plan | Capitec app (Insure, then Funeral Plan), or any Capitec branch |
| Client Care Centre (Capitec lists no separate funeral plan line) | 0860 10 20 43 (24 hours); +27 21 440 3580 from outside South Africa |
| 067 418 9565, 06:00 to 22:00 | |
| Burial repatriation after a death | 0860 77 75 54, the app, or WhatsApp 067 418 9565 |
| Funeral claims by email | InsuranceClaims@capitec.com (the address on Capitec’s claims page) |
Capitec publishes no separate sales line or email address for funeral plans; new policies go through the app or a branch. The funeral plan page’s own email link is broken (it points at an internal document store rather than a mailbox), so for a claim use the address above, which is published on the claims page.
Product or service support
Capitec’s plan pays up to R100 000 towards funeral costs and can cover you and up to 21 family members. Premiums depend on the cover amount you choose and who you add, and Capitec says there are no automatic annual premium increases. The maximum cover per person, as published:
| Person covered | Maximum cover |
|---|---|
| Policyholder | R100 000 |
| Spouse (18 to 85) | R100 000 |
| Children, newborn to 5 | R20 000 each |
| Children, 6 and older | R50 000 each |
| Parents (26 to 85) | R50 000 each |
| Extended blood relatives, 0 to 5 | R20 000 each |
| Extended blood relatives, 6 to 85 | R50 000 each |
Built-in benefits listed by Capitec: a double payout if a covered person dies in an accident, from day one; a pause of up to six months without premiums (no cover while paused, available after 24 months); six months’ free cover for a newborn or adopted child if you apply within three months; six months of premium-free cover for the other lives if the policyholder dies; and burial repatriation from South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho or Mozambique to a South African funeral home, with transport and one night’s accommodation for one relative. The plan is underwritten by Capitec Life Limited, a licensed life insurer (FSP 54090).
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
Capitec’s application guide says the policyholder must be a South African resident aged 18 to 64 with a Capitec account. You need a valid South African ID, your bank account details, and the birth dates or ID numbers of everyone you want to cover; no medical tests or proof of relationship are needed. You can name up to two beneficiaries.
- Sign in on the app and tap Insure.
- Under Funeral Plan choose Funeral costs, then Get Cover and Add new policy.
- Enter your email address, choose the cover amount and family members, and complete the payment details.
- Accept the Funeral Plan agreement and tap Confirm. The policy document arrives by email.
A six month waiting period applies to death from natural causes. If you switch from another licensed insurer and have finished its waiting period, Capitec waives the natural death waiting period for the same cover amount, if you qualify for that cover. The law caps payouts for a child’s death across all policies Capitec knows about, so child cover may pay less than the table shows. Capitec’s pages differ on ages: the application guide lists spouses aged 18 to 64 and children up to 25, while the product page table shows spouses to 85, so confirm the age limits in the app before you rely on them.
