RCS is a South African consumer finance provider, part of the BNP Paribas group. Its card enquiries route is separate from its loans and insurance desks. The contact details below were read from rcs.co.za on 2 September 2026.
Official provider route
- Card enquiries: 0861 729 727, [email protected]
- Fraud and scams: 021 597 4970 or [email protected]
- Loans: [email protected]
- Insurance: [email protected]
Fraud has its own line and it is not customer service. If a card is compromised, phone 021 597 4970 rather than the card enquiries number – that is a different queue, and on a card the speed of the block is what limits your liability.
RCS splits enquiries by product: cards, loans and insurance each have their own mailbox. Sending a card query to the loans address gets it forwarded rather than answered.
Product or service support
The RCS credit card is a general-purpose card, distinct from the store cards RCS issues for particular retailers. Check which product you actually hold before you call – a retailer-branded RCS account and the RCS credit card are administered as different products even though the same group runs both.
Paying only the minimum is the expensive path. On a revolving card the minimum payment covers little more than interest and fees, so the balance barely moves. Ask for the current interest rate, the monthly service fee and the initiation fee, and check what a fixed higher payment would do to the term.
Ask also whether credit life insurance is attached to the account and what it costs. It is often included on cards of this type, it is charged monthly, and you are entitled to know what it covers – and in many cases to substitute your own policy.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
An RCS credit card is a credit agreement under the National Credit Act, so RCS must complete an affordability assessment before granting the account or increasing the limit – a limit increase is new credit and is assessed as such.
You are entitled to a statement showing the balance, the interest charged and the fees. Request it in writing if it is not reaching you, because arrears accrue whether or not the statement arrives.
Escalation route
Raise a dispute on 0861 729 727 or [email protected], quoting the account number and dates, and keep the reference.
If you fall behind, watch for a section 129 notice. Under the National Credit Act a credit provider must send that notice before it may start legal action, and it must offer you the option of referring the matter to a debt counsellor or another dispute resolution route. It is not junk mail – it is the point at which acting still changes the outcome, and ignoring it is what leads to judgment.
Beyond RCS, the National Credit Regulator handles the conduct of credit agreements and reckless lending, and a registered debt counsellor can apply for debt review before judgment. The National Financial Ombud Scheme resolves credit and banking disputes free of charge – RCS publishes its details on its own contact page as 0860 800 900 and [email protected], and note that this is the independent ombud rather than an RCS number.
Employee misconduct can be reported through RCS’s whistleblowing route at [email protected] or the BNP Paribas EthicsPoint facility. A personal information complaint goes to the Information Regulator.
