To apply for a new Standard Bank home loan by phone, call 0860 500 000 between 8am and 5pm on weekdays. Once an application is in, you can follow its progress on 0860 123 001 by quoting your ID number. “Standard home loan” searches are looking for Standard Bank. We read these details on standardbank.co.za, on its buying, switching and building loan pages and the 2026 Home Loans pricing guide, on 16 September 2026.

ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory. We are not Standard Bank, we cannot pre-qualify you or check an application, and we do not pass on applications.

The application line is not the servicing line: 0860 500 000 is for new lending, while 0860 123 001 deals with loans already on the books. The document checklist linked from the home loan pages is dated 2016 and lists regional application mailboxes; we have left those out because we could not confirm they are still in use. If you already have a Standard Bank bond and want help with statements, debit orders or cancellation, see our Standard Bank home loans page instead.

Product or service support

Standard Bank says its online home loan application takes less than 10 minutes. A pre-qualification quote tells you how much you are likely to get, and you can use it to make an offer on a property, but it is valid for only seven days. The bond calculators estimate affordability and monthly repayments.

Different buyers use different routes:

  • First-time buyers: Standard Bank lends up to R3 million and up to 108% of the price to help cover upfront costs. Its buying page says first home loans applied for by 31 December 2026 get a 50% discount on bond registration costs.
  • Switching from another bank: apply as for a new loan and, if you accept the offer, give your current bank 90 days’ notice. Moving your transactional account with the bond earns a rate of prime minus 0.25%, and cancelling the old bond may cancel insurance held with that bank.
  • Building a house: you are ready to apply once you have an offer to purchase or the title deed and a detailed quotation from your builder. Land alone can be financed at up to 60% of its value over ten years. If the land is bonded with another bank, Standard Bank cannot finance the build until that bond is switched.
  • Pension-backed loans: secured by your retirement fund savings rather than a bond, with repayments taken from your salary and no bond registration or property assessment fees.

Eligibility, account or policy requirements

You can apply alone, jointly with a spouse or partner, or as a trust or business. For a phone or call-back application Standard Bank lists a South African ID, your latest payslip or payslips, a list of your monthly expenses and the property details. A signed offer to purchase can be submitted with the application. Standard Bank then confirms the loan and your personalised interest rate, and books a time to sign the contract.

Pension-backed applicants must have been formally employed for 12 months and belong to a company pension or provident fund. Their document list includes the signed application form, a recent fund benefit statement, three consecutive payslips (six if you earn commission), proof of residence not older than three months, and a bank statement if you do not bank with Standard Bank.

The 2026 pricing guide keeps home loan fees unchanged: an initiation fee of R6 037.50 for individuals or R13 110 for companies, close corporations and trusts, and a monthly service fee of R69 on loans taken out after 6 May 2016 (R240 for juristic accounts).

Escalation route

  2. Lodge a formal complaint with the Complaints Resolution Centre on 0860 101 101 or complaint.resolutioncentre@standardbank.co.za; unresolved outcomes can be escalated to ComplaintsEscalations@standardbank.co.za with your case number.
  3. For a lending dispute Standard Bank cannot settle, contact the National Financial Ombud Scheme on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za, usually within four to six months of the bank’s final answer.

Home loans are provided by The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited, a registered credit provider (NCRCP15), whose website lists its physical address as 5 Simmonds Street, Selby, Johannesburg, 2001.
