What Hertz South Africa provides

Hertz South Africa rents cars through branches across the country, and the same site books branches in Botswana and Namibia, including Gaborone, Maun, Windhoek and Walvis Bay. Its rental FAQs set out these requirements:

• The minimum rental age is 18 years, and you must produce a valid, unendorsed local or international driver’s licence.
• The main renter needs a credit card in their own name. Prepaid rentals require the same card that was used to pay.
• A R2000 deposit is taken on credit card rentals, plus extras such as a fuel deposit. Banks can take up to 21 working days to release deposits.
• Only the person who signed the agreement may drive unless additional drivers are listed, and an Additional Driver Fee applies.
• Fuel prices are updated on the first Wednesday of each month in line with official fuel price changes. Rates include 15% VAT.
