Both George branches offer 24-hour drop-off. The George Airport branch is the one for fly-in rentals on the Garden Route, and it is open on Sundays. The George Down Town depot is closed on Sundays.

All three branches offer 24-hour drop-off. The Umhlanga branch is closed on Sundays. For a Sunday collection in the area, the King Shaka Airport branch is open every day from 06:00 to 22:00.

What you need to collect an Avis car
- A credit card in the driver’s name. Avis accepts some debit cards, but not cash or nameless debit cards.
- A valid, unendorsed driver’s licence. Avis does not accept driving permits or copies.
- For prepaid rentals: the same credit card you paid with, plus the prepaid voucher unless you were told it isn’t needed.
- For foreign licences: the licence must be in English, with a photo (or ID or passport number) and a signature. If it is in another language, bring an international driving permit as well.
Deposits, waivers and extras
Avis places an authorisation hold on your payment card when you collect the car. Its FAQ says some branches add a further R10,000 hold on top of the standard one. Standard cover includes a Collision Damage Waiver and a Theft Loss Waiver, and you can reduce your liability further with Super Waivers. At the counter you will also be offered Personal Accident Insurance and a Windscreen and Tyre Damage Waiver. These are optional. To upgrade your waiver after booking, call Avis on 0861 021 111 or ask when you collect the car.
