Meals on Wheels Contact Details

Meals on Wheels Community Services South Africa is a non-profit organisation that feeds people who cannot feed themselves, working through a national network of branches. Its head office is in Bloemfontein, and it publishes one national number and one administration mailbox.

Official contact channels

• Telephone: 086 000 0700
• Email: adminc@mealsonwheels.org.za
• Head office: 2 Link Road, Navalsig, Bloemfontein, 9301
• The organisation publishes a donations route and issues tax certificates for donations

Note that the mailbox sits on the mealsonwheels.org.za domain while the website runs on a shorter address. Both belong to the same organisation, and the published mailbox is the one to use.

If you want help rather than to give it, say which town you are in when you make contact. The organisation works through local branches, and assistance is arranged by the branch covering your area rather than centrally.

What this organisation provides

• A mass feeding service and a care giver service
• A container kitchen service, placing kitchens in communities that lack them
• An orphan service and an eco garden service supporting food growing
• A warehouse service and a donations in kind route for goods rather than money
• Seasonal work including a Christmas dinner service, and a makeover service

The donations in kind route matters if you want to give food, equipment or goods rather than cash. Non-profits often cannot use arbitrary donated items, so ask what is needed before delivering anything.

Address and operating information

• Head office: 2 Link Road, Navalsig, Bloemfontein, Free State, 9301
• The organisation publishes a national footprint page showing where its branches operate
• No head office trading hours are published

Bloemfontein is the administrative centre rather than the service point. For food assistance, volunteering or a local collection, the branch covering your area is the practical contact, and head office can direct you to it.

Support and escalation routes

• General, donation and volunteering enquiries: 086 000 0700 or adminc@mealsonwheels.org.za
• Ask for a Section 18A tax certificate when donating, since the organisation publishes a tax certificate route and that certificate is what allows a deduction
• Registered non-profits are regulated under the Nonprofit Organisations Act through the Department of Social Development, which holds the NPO register
• Concerns about how a non-profit is governed or how donations are used can be raised with that department

Before donating to any organisation using this name, check you are dealing with the registered body rather than a similarly named collector. Ask for the NPO registration number and the Section 18A certificate, both of which a legitimate organisation issues as a matter of course.
