The Planet Fitness customer service number is 0861 496 463, the call centre listed on Planet Fitness’s Contact Us page. The call centre’s operating hours are weekdays 08:00 to 17:00 (Monday to Friday), and it is closed on weekends and public holidays, so Planet Fitness has no 24-hour customer service line. Live chat on the website runs during business hours, 7:30am to 6pm (5pm on Fridays), with a Bot Assistant after hours. Planet Fitness does not publish a customer service email address on its Contact Us or FAQ pages: you email it through the contact form. Membership account statement	Ask at your club’s reception

The contact form asks for your first and last name, email address, mobile number and club. Its club list covers both Planet Fitness clubs (from Bedfordview, Benoni and Brackenfell to Waterkloof Ridge, Westville and Witbank) and JustGym clubs. Planet Fitness says its support team will get back to you. For opening hours of a specific club, use the Club Locator on the website; the 08:00 to 17:00 hours above are for the call centre, not the gyms.

Cancelling or freezing a Planet Fitness membership

• Cancel: Planet Fitness’s FAQs say that to cancel your membership you must contact Customer Service on 0861 496 463.
• Freeze: Selective Active Memberships can be frozen at any time on request by the main member; while frozen, neither the member nor dependants can use the club. Medical Aid Partner memberships cannot be frozen.
• Unfreeze: a membership frozen for a set period unfreezes automatically when the period ends, unless you ask to keep it frozen or to cancel.
• Change clubs: allowed, but if the new club is cheaper you pay a downgrade fee; if it is more expensive there is no extra charge. Partner memberships can only change clubs after 60 days.

Planet Fitness debit orders and annual levy

Your debit order runs on the date you chose at sign-up: the 1st, 15th or 25th. Planet Fitness says it does not bill in advance. If there are not enough funds, it may double-debit you in the following month’s run, or re-present the instruction when funds are available. The deductions appear on your bank statement as PF GYMFEE, PF LEVYFEE or PLANETFS. Planet Fitness also deducts an annual levy, either in July or December, or spread over 12 months in your monthly premium, depending on the option you chose, and sends an SMS and email before the levy runs. You remain responsible for your monthly fee if your banking details change and you do not tell Planet Fitness. EFT banking details for payments are published in the FAQs; use your ID number or membership number as the reference.

Planet Fitness memberships

Planet Fitness’s Memberships page lists a National Membership giving access to all 51 clubs nationwide for R1,600 a month, a Student Membership, a Club Membership for a single club, and a Just Gym Membership. Add-ons include ELEVATE, described as a premium membership upgrade, Teens Train Free (under-18s train free on a parent’s membership) and the Buddy Tag. The website also offers a free 1-day trial.

Buddy tag and class schedules

The Buddy tag lets you bring one guest to work out with you and can be added to your membership at any time for an extra monthly fee. Group class schedules are on the kiosk in your club and on the schedules link on the website. Planet Fitness says all clubs are deep-cleaned overnight and regularly during the day with medical-grade disinfectants.
