PlayLive calls itself South Africa’s largest online casino and runs on a co.za address, so most people arrive assuming it is a South African company. Its own footer says otherwise, and the whole of its contact detail is one mailbox. Read from playlive.co.za on 7 September 2026.
Every contact channel PlayLive publishes
- E-mail: [email protected]
- Support hours: 09h00 to 22h00, seven days a week
- Operator: Gleneagles B.V., Curacao company registration number 158256
- Registered address: Johan Van Walbeeckplein 24, Curacao
- Licence: Curacao Gaming Authority, number OGL/2024/1242/0772
- No South African phone number, office address or licence appears anywhere on the site
The Contact Us link in the footer is not a page. It is that mailbox, opened directly. There is no contact form and no live chat address published in the page source, and playlive.co.za/contact-us returns a 404. If you want a written record of a dispute, the mailbox is the only place you can start one.
A co.za domain is not a South African licence
South Africa licenses bookmakers through the provincial gambling boards, and those licences cover sports and horse-race betting. No South African authority licenses online casino games, and PlayLive does not claim one: the single licence its footer names is issued in Curacao, by the Curacao Gaming Authority, to a Curacao company. The domain ending is a marketing choice, not a regulatory fact, and anyone can register one.
That matters for money rather than for morals. A dispute over a withdrawal from a Curacao-licensed operator is decided under Curacao law by a Curacao regulator, and a South African court order would have nothing local to attach to.
The complaints policy has nobody in it
PlayLive publishes a Player Complaints Policy, and it is worth reading for what it does not say. The text is the Curacao regulator’s own template, still carrying the instructions written for operators rather than for players, including the lines about what the operator may at its own discretion publish. It names no alternative dispute resolution provider, gives no complaints mailbox of its own and sets no deadline for a reply. The policy promises free independent ADR; the page does not tell you who provides it.
Where a South African player can actually escalate
- National Gambling Board switchboard 010 003 3475, [email protected], 1085 Francis Baard Street, Hatfield, Pretoria. Its contact form carries a Report Illegal Gambling option.
- The NGB publishes a Verified Operators list. Check any gambling site against it before depositing rather than after a withdrawal is refused.
- Responsible Gambling helpline: 0800 006 008, free from a South African line.
