Verified contact details
Read on the school’s own website, timourhall.org.za, on 25 August 2026. Most South African primary schools publish nothing directly and have to be reached through a district office, so a school with its own contact page is the exception rather than the rule.

The Friday closing time catches people out
The office shuts at 14:00 on a Friday, an hour and a half earlier than the rest of the week. A good share of unanswered Friday afternoon calls to primary schools are simply calls placed after the office has closed rather than a number that no longer works.
Email is the better channel for anything not urgent, and the only sensible one during school holidays. Put the learner’s full name and grade in the subject line, because a school office handles a large volume of near identical enquiries at admissions time.
A school older than most of the suburb
Land was set aside for a school on the Timour Hall Estate in the early 1900s, and the first pupil was enrolled on 11 April 1904, into a wood and iron building of two classrooms. It was called Plumstead Primary until January 1977, when it took the name of the estate.
That earlier name still appears in old records and on some directory sites, which is worth knowing if you are tracing school records for someone who attended before 1977. Plumstead Primary and Timour Hall Primary are the same school, not two.
Fees, and what a quintile 5 rating means
This is a fee charging school rather than a no fee school. It is a Section 21 school, which means it manages its own budget for textbooks, stationery and utilities instead of having them supplied centrally.
- A parent who cannot afford fees can apply for exemption, and the school must assess the application against the prescribed formula rather than refuse it out of hand.
- A learner may not be refused admission over unpaid fees, and a report or transfer may not be withheld because of a fee debt.
- Apply in the Western Cape’s official admission window, which runs well ahead of the year concerned, and apply to more than one school.
- If no school places your child, that becomes a district responsibility. The WCED line above will point you to the right district office.
