Hawks in Pretoria: head office address
The Central Reporting Office takes walk-in reports at Promat Building, Office A10, No. 1 Cresswell Road, Silverton, Pretoria, 0186. The DPCI Anti-Corruption Desk is in the same building, at A5 Promat Building, 1 Cresswell Road, Silverton. SAPS head office is separate, at Telkom Towers Building, 152 Johannes Ramokhoase Street, Pretoria.

These are the office landlines listed for each provincial head on the DPCI contact page. The Free State entry has only a cellphone number for a named officer, so we have left it out. To make a report from any province, use the Central Reporting Office on 012 846 4222.
How do I report someone to the Hawks?
- Email Corruption.ReportsHO@saps.gov.za or visit the Central Reporting Office in Silverton. The DPCI reporting guide says phoning should be your last resort.
- Give the details the prescribed form asks for: your identification, your contact details, your position of authority, the allegations, and the people involved.
- The Central Reporting Office assesses the report, registers it and gives you a unique reference number. The case then goes to an Anti-Corruption Task Team for a preliminary investigation.
A report to the Hawks does not replace a criminal case. The DPCI FAQ says you should still open a case at your local police station’s Community Service Centre. A police officer at the station can take your statement, register the case and refer you to the DPCI.
What the Hawks investigate
Section 34 of the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act, 2004 requires people in positions of authority to report certain offences to the DPCI. Failing to report them is an offence. The offences are corruption, and theft, fraud, extortion, forgery and uttering a forged document where R100,000 or more is involved. The DPCI’s mandate also covers serious organised crime, serious commercial crime, serious corruption and priority crime specialised investigations.
Hawks tip-off line and WhatsApp
The DPCI website does not list a WhatsApp number for the Hawks. For an anonymous tip-off, SAPS Crime Stop takes calls on 08600 10111. SAPS says the service has run since 1992 and that no informer’s anonymity has been compromised. You can also send tips through the MySAPS App, which is linked from saps.gov.za. In an emergency, dial 10111.
SAPS Crime Stop asks tipsters to say who did what to whom, and when, where, why and how, and to give as many details as they can so detectives can follow up. The DPCI FAQ explains that Section 34 reports are mainly used to build intelligence, so that no cases “slip through the net” and government agencies do not duplicate each other’s work.
